Thiscameatthesametimeasanincreasedinterestinpopularmusic, givingradioa uniqueimportanceinourdailylives, a rolethatitstillholdstoday. Infact, atthemoment, thefamousBBC World Service has a weeklyaudience of 188 millionlisteners, andthisisset to rise, asthenumberof languagesthatprogrammesarebroadcastinincreases.
