10. The fourth type of spice to the mix is example. An example is the “E” in MEAL. It is essentially the same thing. You use an example to show a point; you use an example when you add a fact or statistic; and you also use examples in narrative writing when you need to be more specific and not a general answer. It is like when your Mom asks how your day went and you just say fine. You could be more specific. It is like when you tell your friend you have to go to work and they have to ask you where you work. You could have just been specific to begin with and said “I have to go to work at Firehouse Subs now.” In the sentences below, make it more specific and add examples whenever you can.

A) Late for work, he ran the rest of the way.

B) The big game started soon but she forgot to buy snacks.

C) They won the State championship.

D) He thought it was an awesome movie, but she preferred different types of movies.

E) This food is so awful.
