Supporting People with Cancer
What is St. James’s Place Foundation?
St. James’s Place Foundation was founded in 1992, when it was known as The J.Rothschild Assurance Foundation.
St. James’s Place is a wealth management group. Employees and Partners (members of the St. James’s Place Partnership, the marketing arm of St. James’s Place) contribute to the Foundation throughout each year and the sums raised are matched by the Company. The combined amount is distributed each year to causes determined by the contributors.
Mission Statement
The Foundation aims to improve the quality of life for those people in need as a result of disability or disadvantage. It seeks to achieve direct, tangible results from the support given.
Programme
The Foundation operates the following programme for charities supporting people with Cancer:
Small Grants for capital items or revenue
The Small Grants Programme is to a maximum of £10,000 and is only available to organisations with an annual income of less than £750,000.
The Foundation has a policy of not granting more than £10,000 in any two year period.
Target Client Group
The Foundation will support projects that provide directly for people with Cancer.
Where organisations include other groups, 75% of beneficiaries must fit the above parameters.
Target Organisations
Applications will only be accepted from UK organisations that are registered, exempt or excepted Charities, or those recognised as Charities by Inland Revenue in Scotland or Northern Ireland.
Exclusions
Charities with reserves of over 50% of income, administrative costs, activities primarily the responsibility of statutory agencies, replacement of lost statutory funding, research, events, advertising, holidays, sponsorship, contributions to large capital appeals, single faith charities, charities that are raising funds on behalf of another charity.
How to Apply
Application forms are available from the Foundation Office or via the St. James’s Place website (then click on Foundation)and may be returned by email or post.
Enclosures
Applications will only be considered if accompanied by a signed copy of the most recent audited accounts and annual report.
What happens to your Application?
Applications will be assessed against a number of criteria, including user involvement, sustainability, maximum benefit and volunteer involvement. Assessment visits may be made.
Small Grant applications will normally be processed within 4 months from date of application.
What does St. James’s Place Foundation expect?
Acceptance of a Grant is conditional on agreement to complete a monitoring and evaluation report. Any change in relevant circumstances must be reported.
