The narrator of this story recalls his fascination as a child with what seemed like a magical new invention, the telephone. He discovers also that “inside” the telephone is an amazing woman called “Information Please.” He soon gets in the habit of calling her for everything, and they develop a simple, but special friendship. After he grows up and moves away, he often remembers how patient and understanding the woman in the phone had been.
