JOB TITLE PAYROLL SPECIALIST
REPORTS TO / CONTROLER / RATE OF PAY / DOE
STATUS / FULL TIME, REGULAR / FLSA / NON-EXEMPT
DEPARTMENT / PAYROLL / LOCATION/SITE / ANCHORAGE, AK
40 HOURS PER WEEK
SCHEDULE / MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY / HOURS

Major Responsibilities:

1. Review new employee data entry and employee changes facilitated by Dept Managers.

2. Compile and organize timesheets for processing.

3. Key/scan timesheets into accounting system and review for accuracy.

4. Review timekeeping data uploads for accuracy.

5. Review employee timekeeping for compliance with Department of Labor laws and company policy, including: Overtime rules, Administrative leave, Holiday eligibility

6. Review and distribute bi-weekly paychecks and direct deposit statements.

7. Provide backup for payroll data entry functions.

8. Process timesheet corrections.

9. Reconcile and transmit/remit bi-weekly 401(k) and garnishments.

10. File/scan documentation.

11. Monitor and maintain employee PTO balances.

12. Assist with completion of various employee forms (e.g., verifications of employment, unemployment questionnaires, etc.).

13. Assist in all payroll audits as they arise.

14. Audit employees for benefits

15. Complete other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent and 2 + years of experience.

Special Knowledge or Skills:

• 10-key by touch

• Beginning – intermediate Excel skills

• Ability to prioritize and organize, work well under stress, meet deadlines

• Ability to be flexible and adapt to constant change

• Ability to communicate effectively personally and via telephone/email

• Willing to learn new things

• Have a positive attitude and be solutions-oriented
