11 - 13 Division

SECTION I: EQUIPMENT

1: Playing court: The size of the playing floor will be a regulation court.

2: Goals: The goals will be set at a height of 10 feet

3: Foul Line: The foul line will be regular length

4: Basketball: The official basketball shall be a regulation size, 29.5 synthetic leather basketball.

SECTION II: PLAYING REGULATIONS

1: Timing Regulations

  1. The game shall consist of 2 20-minute running clock half’s. The clock will be stopped only for time-outs and/or stopped by the officials, except for the last 2 minutes of each half. During these times the clock will be operated according to high school rules.
  2. Note: when a team is up by more than 20 points the clock will continue to run the last 2 minutes of each half except for timeouts.
  3. Overtime period will be a 1-minute period (1st only). On the 2nd overtime period will be a sudden death period (first team scores wins). If not team has scored in the period (sudden death 1 minute), each team will be awarded 1 free throw (must be different shooter each time) until a winner is decided. Overtime is an extension of the 2nd half and all division rules apply except for jump-ball situations.)
  4. Player Participation: each player must play around 1/2 of the game (but not all at one time).

2: Jump Ball Situations

  1. The game shall begin with a jump ball. For each jump-ball situation thereafter, possession will be given on an alternating basis until the end of regulation play. If the game goes into overtime, each overtime period will begin with a jump ball to determine who has the first possession. All other possessions during that overtime period will be on alternating basis.

3: Defense

  1. Each team may play a one-on-one defense or zone defense.

Note: A team may press at anytime except when a team is 14 points or more ahead.

  1. Trapping or double-teaming in the half court will not be permitted if a team is 17 or more points ahead. Note: A violation must be called and the ball awarded to the offense if any advantage is gained by the defense. 3 violations and each additional violation will result in a technical foul (non-direct).

Note: If a defensive violation is called simultaneously with a made shot, the basket shall count and the defensive violation call will be ignored.

4: Miscellaneous Rules

A. Each team shall be allowed 3 time outs per game plus one additional time out for each overtime period.

B. The 3-point shooting arc will be used in this age group.

C. The 3-second lane will be the full lane according to the National Federation of State High School Association.

D. All other play will be governed by the rules set forth by the National Federation of State High School Association.

E. If a player on the floor becomes injured during a play and a foul is called and they cannot shoot the free throw, the substitute player must come in and shoot the free throw. If no substitute is available, then the coach may select a player on the court to shoot the free throws.

F. If a player receives a direct technical foul in the first half of the game they are ejected for that game. If a player receives a direct technical foul in the second half of the game they are ejected for the remaining of that game plus the first half of the next played game.
