1. Methodist Ministers’ Pension Scheme

Resolution: The Council nominates to the Conference the appointment of Graham Danbury as a member of the trustee board

Reasoned statement: Graham is a solicitor and a member of the Lay Employees’ Pension Scheme trustee board. He is member in the Bedfordshire, Essex & Hertfordshire district, a member of the district synod and is the district’s Complaints Officer; a member also of the connexional Safeguarding Advisory Panel and the Law and Polity Committee.

2. Working Group for One Connexion: Many Nations and Jurisdictions (See SRC Minute 08.1.14)

Donghwan Kim: Korean Methodist presbyter serving in the Kingston upon Thames circuit (London district), with a brief for ‘Korean Development’

Margaret Best: Representative of the Darlington district on the Council; nominated to become a member of the SRC

NOTE The working group are being asked to start their deliberations in the light of MC/07/60 and MC/08/02.

3. Delegates to the General Conference of the United Methodist Church, 23 April - 2 May 2008, Fort Worth, Texas

By a concordat between the United Methodist Church (UMC)and the Methodist Church of Great Britain (MCB) the UMC sends a lay and an ordained representative to the BritishConference each year and the British Church sends two lay and two ordained delegates to the General Conference which takes place every four years.

The following three names are brought to the Council for approval:

Mr David Bradwell, West London Mission Circuit (35/2), Research Assistant in the Joint Public Issues Team.

Ms Christine Elliott, Secretary for External Relationships in the Connexional Team from 1/2/08, formerly connexional JMA Secretary and from 1999-2008, Area Secretary for Asia Pacific in the World Church Office of the Connexional Team.

The Revd Jennifer A Impey, Co-Chair of the London District (35).

The Revd Peter G Sulston, Co-ordinating Secretary and Ecumenical Officer (or, providing the name of the person is identified in time and that person is a presbyter, the person who will be Ecumenical Officer from September 2008)
