SIX DOWN

1. INT – Randall Murphy’s bedroom
Five second of black
CI – An alarm clock says 6:29 and it goes to 6:30 as it hits 6:30 the alarm blares. A hand comes into frame and turns it off.
FADE INTO
2. INT – bathroom
A shower is going and the person inside is whistling a tune. As a few seconds pass the shower turns off five to seven seconds later a male in a towel steps out this is RANDALL MURPHY.

3. INT – breakfast nook
RANDALL is sitting at the table eating some sort of breakfast cereal.
FADE INTO
4. EXT – Randall’s House
Randall is walking out of his house he is wearing khaki pants a dress shirt and a tie his police badge is showing on his belt. With the slam of his front door:

On black credits roll
(Music plays)
5. INT – police office
The average office for police with one table that two detectives share this office is MURPHY’S and SONNY LA MOTTA’S he is MURPHY’S partner they are sitting at the desk.
(Randall is yawning)
SONNY
What’s the matter Murph?
RANDALL
Long night.
SONNY
Looking over the case again.
RANDALL
yeah, it just doesn’t
Make any sense he has
Killed four times and
There is no witness or
Or any signs of a killer
At the scene.
(he’s agitated)
SONNY
Except for the stiff.
RANDALL
Yeah, obviously.
A nearby phone rings
SONNY picks it up and after a few seconds SONNY’S face turns eerie.
FADE INTO
6. EXT – basketball court
Camera fades into a basketball backboard, it fades down to reveal caution tape around a dead basketball player on the floor bleeding. The two detectives are stunned and have a discouraged look.
SONNY
Again, he strikes again
RANDALL
God, he is a madman
SONNY
We got to put a stop to
This sick being.
RANDALL starts pacing back and fourth after a while his face focuses in on something.
SONNY
What is it, Murph?
RANDALL
Right there under that
cooler.
They walk over to it and pull a piece of paper out that is taped to the bottom of the swamp cooler connected to a window. SONNY grabs it and opens it the camera pans into it reads:
I STRIKE ONCE TWICE THREE AND FOUR TIMES
THIS IS FIVE AND HERE COMES SIX.

7. INT – MURPHY’S Room
Murphy sits on his bed looking through a dozen or so file folders that all have Polaroid pictures paper clipped to them he grabs one and opens it inside the camera looks at inside the file it reads:
Name: Larry Birdman
DOB: 1/14/1979
Cause of Death: Homicide
Coroner: Wales
Time of Death: 12:18 am
There is also a picture of the dead body at the crime scene the camera pulls in slowly onto the picture and dissolves into:
8. EXT – Forested Area
It is an area with lots of trees and Murphy is walking through the brush holding his gun with much caution some suspenseful music is playing. He moves some branches and a blue tarp is revealed, The camera is pointed up as if it is the tarp as MURPHY pulls it up the camera is staring at his face as he removes the tarp.
RANDALL
Oh, god.
DISSOLVE back into MURPHY sitting on his bed with a dreadful cold sweat on his face.
He pulls up another file and he has another flash back:
FADE INTO
SONNY and RANDALL in a dark garage with two flash lights they are searching for something they have two handkerchiefs on their noses.
SONNY
This place reeks man.
RANDALL
I know.
SONNY
What are we looking for?
RANDALL
A corpse.
SONNY has a camera on and is wearing blue gloves
RANDALL
What is with the gloves?
SONNY
If we find a corpse I’m not
Touching the thing with my
Bare hands.
RANDALL is flipping through some old newspapers and a stack of books. He find an old stack of records he picks one up it is a JETHRO TULL record he is sort of amazed with it until SONNY breaks his concentration.
SONNY
WHOA!
RANDALL
What?
CAMERA PANS ONTO SONNY
SONNY
I found the dead guy.
RANDALL
Where?
SONNY
Here where I am standing, Murph!
RANDALL walks over to where SONNY is standing and he is surprised. They look at the body and are amazed.
SONNY
What is the significance?
RANDALL
I don’t know.
RANDALL
There look.
On a wall there is a piece of cardboard stapled to it saying:
2 down 6 to go.
- Who am I?
FADE INTO
RANDALL is still on his bed and he looks overcome with fear he puts the folders under his mattress and he goes to sleep.

9. INT – MURPHY’S Room, Night
While RANDALL is sleeping he hears a creak and a door opening he awakens and he grabs his gun off his desk by his bedside he then approaches to leave his room.
CU- to the bottom of the stairs and the camera is looking up to the top of the stairs where RANDALL was standing and he was breathing heavily and scared. (suspenseful music is back on) he walks down the stairs slowly and when he reaches the bottom a man in a hooded jacket is lying dead at the foot of the stairs he turns the man around and it is SONNY bleeding very heavily.
CU- quickly to RANDALL waking up quick in a cold sweat it was all a nightmare. He turns on a lamp bedside he takes a huge drink of water that is by his side and he turns on the Television and the movie “The Shining” is on it is the part with the two little girls.
RANDALL
Great.
10. INT – Policeman’s office
SONNY is eating something and watching a little TV on his desk and laughing and then RADALL comes into frame.
SONNY
What’s up man
RANDALL
Good you’re here.
SONNY
Why wouldn’t I be?
RANDALL
No reason.
SONNY
Guess what?
RANDALL
What. Good news?
SONNY
Yeah a possible tip on were
The murderer lives.
RANDALL
How?
SONNY
Well downtown in this little
Place were this woman rents out
Little dorm rooms saw this one guy
She rented this room out for one
Night the night of one of the murders
Come home with a bloody shirt and he
He had marks all over his face.
RANDALL
Possible suspect?
SONNY
Possible suspect.
SONNY
I will go, you round
Up back up and catch up.
RANDALL
No I want this you get
Back up and catch up.
SONNY
Ok whatever.
FADE OUT

11. INT – “Killers” Dorm
RANDALL walks into a little dorm room with a couch and a bed and a television. He goes in and searches for a minute touches stuff looks under his bed and sits on his couch.
CU – the camera cuts to the closet in this room and the closet door cracks open and a hand with a glove sticks out with a gun the camera pans into the door as we hear a gunshot and RANDALL screams.

12. INT - SMALL TORURE ROOM
(this part is filmed with night vision)
It is a small dark confinement but we can see RANDALL because the camera is filming in night vision he is just waking up and he is bloody all over. When he wakes up he tries to open the door but he finds out that it is locked.
Suddenly he hears a loud ear screeching static sound then a voice from nowhere it is distorted:
VOICE
Good you are awake.
RANDALL
Who are you?
Where am I?
VOICE
No questions!
RANDALL
Sorry
VOICE
Well welcome to the
First hour of the last
Day of your life...
Maybe that is
RANDALL
Your sick.
VOICE
Am I
RANDALL
Yes you are.
VOICE
Ok sorry you feel
That way.
RANDALL
You know that my
Partner will come
And find me.
VOICE
Oh, SONNY
Lets just say
That he won’t
Be in my way anymore.
RANDALL
You killed him?
VOICE
Yes and I shall kill you
To unless you comply with
Me in a little game.
RANDALL
What game
VOICE
In your pocket is
A map on that map
Is a place in the
Middle of a field some
Where in the middle of
Suburban California
Go there and dig. There
You will find the next step
Where to go. And you will be
Monitored.
RANDALL
Fine how do I leave
This place?
VOICE
Put on that blind
Fold in your other
Pocket and you will
Escorted out.

FADE INTO
EXT – Field
From a long shot we see RANDALL walking in the huge field he walks for about a minute until he reaches the middle.
CU – To him looking at the ground he sees a huge X on the ground and he starts to dig with his hands in the ground after about a minute or so of digging he finds a shoe box and he pulls it out and he opens it in it is a piece of paper that says:
“KEEP DIGGING”
CAMERA PANS CLOSE TO HIS FACE WHILE HE DIGS he finds a piece of cardboard it has a bunch of writing on it says “If you have come this far in my little game then maybe you are willing to come farther there is a bunch of trees behind that huge white library and if you go there you will find the answer to your number one question.”
RANDALL
Who Am I?
He walks to the trees behind the library. He is walking slow as if he really does not want to know who it is but he will give anything to know who it was. He gets to the trees and a little behind them he sees body lying on the ground as the camera gets closer we see that it is SONNY lying there dead. Right next to him is a note book. Once he sees SONNY he looks so devastated but he grabs the notebook and sits in front of him so SONNY is behind him.
CU – of the note book RANDALL opens the note book and the pages are numbered the first page says turn to page 15 he turns to page 15 and there is a picture of the 1st person that he killed. Then it says turn to page 25 when he does it is the picture of the 2nd person then it says turn to page 39 he does and it is a picture of the 3rd person when he turns to next page 47 it is the 4th person and on page 78 it was the 5th person. Then it said turn to page 79 he turns to page 79 and it says:
I STRIKE ONCE TWICE THREE AND FOUR TIMES
THIS IS FIVE AND HERE COMES SIX.
-WHO AM I?
RANDALL
Oh my god
Then it says turn to page 80
He turns it to page 80 and the very last picture is a picture of himself.
RANDALL
Where’s Sonny?
He flips through the rest of the book
The camera pans back and we see SONNY starting to get up behind his back he pulls a gun from his pocket and he put it against the back of MURPHY’S head.
MURPHY quickly grabs a gun out of his shoe and turns around and points the gun at SONNY
RANDALL
Why La Motta?
SONNY
Why?
RANDALL
Yeah why do this?
SONNY
The force.
RANDALL
What about it, the force.
SONNY
The police force drove me
To it.
RANDALL
Why how.
SONNY
I don’t know it makes
Me feel alive to defy
Them.
RANDALL
But killin.
SONNY
I am pretty sorry
Bout the deaths and
All. Well except for
Yours it is going
To be fulfilling.
RANDALL
What about my back up.
(he points behind him)
SONNY
Where?
RANDALL takes off running through the field we see a long shot of SONNY chasing RANDALL. RANDALL tries to take cover behind these dirt hills at the end of the field. RANDALL starts shooting at SONNY. SONNY takes cover at another dirt hill. They trade shots for awhile.
SONNY
It is inevitable.
RANDALL
No, why is it inevitable.
SONNY
Because I say so.
They both stand up from their spots and are both pointing their guns at each other.
RANDALL
I’m sorry
SONNY
No, I’m sorry
They simultaneously shoot each other
FADE OUT
FADE INTO
INT – Policeman’s office
All we can see is the desk of detectives SONNY and MURPHY the phone on the desk is visible it rings. A hand comes into frame and picks it up. We hear SONNY’S voice
SONNY
Oh yeah we are sorry
To lose him he was a
Good officer, he had
A lot of potential.
(few seconds pass)
Who would of thought
He was a mass murderer?
