5.  SCOPE

Lectures / Entomology as the study of insects, the most abundant form of animal life on earth. Incredibly diverse morphological, physiological, and behavioral adaptations to surroundings; their abundance, short life cycle, reproductive potential and small size. Insects as the major component of the earth's biodiversity. Ecological role of insects in ecosystems function. Role of insects in plant consumers and herbivores, a food source for other organisms, scavengers and detritivores, predators and parasites.
