Coaches Responsibilities

1.Acknowledgethe responsibilities regarding the Code of Conduct requirements:

Each parent signed the Code of Conduct for themselves and their child when they register for this program. Please be familiar with these basic rules and help us enforce them in our facilities.

  1. Shirts and shoes are required at all times. (no bare chests (men) and a shirt must be worn over sports bras at all times (women)).
  2. Change clothing in GYM Locker rooms only.
  3. Players, siblings and spectators must be well behaved.
  4. Please remember that all minors must be supervised at all time. For parents (and you), it means if the supervising adult is in the gym, child/children should not be running around in the lobby or outside the building. They must be supervised at all times.
  1. The coaches are responsible for supervising their players during practices, it is not your responsible to supervise your player’s siblings. Parent should not be leaving players siblings at practices unattended.

2.Coaches responsibilities when using the Assisi Community Center facilities during Practices and Games:

  1. Coaches should always CHECK IN at the front desk for games and practices.

Effective Jan 1, 2017, we are delighted to be using a Lobby Guard as the new checkin and checkout process for the Assisi Community Center. This new software will enable us to track people in the building and background check our visitors. This is the same system we have just recently installed in our schools for all visitor checkins.

To sign into the gym, you will be required to scan your driver’s license. Driver’s License is required every time you check in.

The checkin process will be:

1.)Stop by the Community Center front desk and ask to checkin.

2.)Tell the staff you are Coach and you’d like to go into the gym.

3.)Smile for the camera.

4.)Scan the back of your Driver’s License.

5.)Once cleared, the staff person will let you in.

  1. Players are to wait in the lobby until their coach arrives for practice.
  2. The gym door will remain locked during the day. Staff will allow entry into the gym when the coach is present and it is your practice time.
  3. Effective immediately All players will only use the restrooms and water fountains located in the locker rooms in the gym. We do not want any players leaving the gym during practice to use the restrooms or water fountains in the lobby.
  4. Everyone needs to start and end practices on time, when your practice time is done please exit the court to allow the next team on the court. If you need to have a discussion with your team, please do it in the Gym Locker rooms.
  5. Keep in mind that practice times are for your registered TEAM players only. They are not open practices for other team player or nonleague players or siblings.
  6. Coaches and Assistant Coaches are the only ones that are permitted into the equipment closet. No minors are permitted into the closet. The code for the Equipment Closet is 0325. Please don’t share this code with anyone.
  7. Game Day Set Up- It is the responsibility of the two coaches who have the first game of the day to Set Up the gym before the first game. It is advised to arrive at least 1/2 hour before game time.
  8. Game Day Put away- It is the responsibility of the two coaches and parents of the last game to:
  1. All bottles, wrappers, papers and other trash must be thrown away.
  2. Place the basketballs back into the assigned carts and then into the cages in the equipment closet. The basketball have been sorted by size and please try to keep them that way.
  3. Game balls should be kept separate from the practice balls. They will only be used during the games.

I have marked them as “Game Ball”.

  1. Please help us keep the equipment closet neat and orderly. We share this closet with TFS PE teachers and TFS Athletics department.
  2. Please try to get games started on time. We realize that sometimes the game before you is running late, but please try to get on the court and start the game as soon as possible.
  3. Games will begin with all players, coaches and referees at center court. Ground rules will be reviewed with the players and the Prayer of St Francis prayer will be offered before the start of the game.
  4. LEGAL PLAYERS:Players will not participate in any games or practices unless they are officially registered with the league. The use of players not on the official team roster will result in a forfeit.
  5. FORFEITING GAMES: A team may start a game with a minimum of 4 players and continue with less if players foul out. However, any team with less than four players at the start of a game will lose by forfeit. The beginning of a game may be delayed no more than 5 minutes to wait for a late player.
  6. FORFEITED GAMES: When a game is forfeited by a team, the two teams can have a scrimmage game, provided that only LEGAL PLAYERS for any team in the league participate in the game.

3.Coaches responsibilities during Emergency Situations:

If you have an emergency, please remember there is always Community Center staff at the front desk to help.

  1. For ALL accidents, we need to complete an accident report form. Please work with staff to complete this form.
  2. If you have any doubt, call 9-1-1. Community Center staff is trained in standard 1stAide and CPR. There is an AED at the front desk on the wall.
  3. See the posted ORANGE signs for Severe Weather and Lockdown procedures. Please help Community Center Staff direct people calmly to appropriate locations if situations occur.
  4. We will use email, the website, and phone messages to announce cancellations due to bad weather.

4.Spirit of Play at St Francis:

Always remember you are coaching in the Assisi Community Center at the Catholic Community of St Francis. You are not only here to teach the fundamentals of basketball but you are also here to support the values of our parish league and help each player:

  • Have fun and enjoys the experience;
  • Reflect an example of sportsmanship and Christian fellowship;
  • Become schooled in the fundamentals of basketball;
  • Develop confidence with their basketball skills; and,
  • Feels a part of the team and the game and applies the value of teamwork

Thank you for your cooperation in these matters. Keep in mind, there is always staff working in the community center that can help you with a question or concerns that might arise during games and practices.
