EXPERIENCE

Associate Professor

Institute of Management Sciences, Peshawar is a prestigious educational institution in the public sector where I served as lecturer from 1998 to 2004 and was promoted as Assistant Professor in 2005. In 2009, was appointed as Assistant Professor under the Tenure Track System and was promoted as tenured Associate Professor in 2015.

I teach different subjects including Marketing, Marketing Management, Marketing of Banking and Financial Services, Brand Management, Contemporary Issues in Marketing, Seminar in Marketing, Sales Management, International Marketing, Marketing Research and Consumer Behavior.

Joint Director September 2016 till date

The position of Joint Director functions as a substitute for a Dean’s or Pro Rector’s positions in other universities. The main roles and responsibilities are:

  • Working collaboratively with all departments/programs & centers to uphold the highest standards, embed leading teaching pedagogy and best practice across IMSciences; in learning, teaching quality and assessment
  • Enhancing the reach and functionality of Academic Practice and Learning by offering a wide range of professional development activities and support for teaching and learning
  • Acting as an ambassador for IMSciences, liaise with collaborative partners and relevant external stakeholders such as the HEC etc., building strategic alliances and accounting for practice as required
  • Heading the following committees:
  • Advisory Committee
  • Semester Committee
  • Research Committee
  • Library Committee

Deputy Director July 2013-September 2016

The Deputy Director looks after the administrative affairs of the Institute. The major duties included:

  • Managing and participating in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities of the Institute
  • Overseeing and suggesting the Director upon the Institute’s financial operations including the development and administration of the annual budget and the forecasting of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies
  • Coordinating, reviewing and making recommendations to Director regarding Institute’s administrative matters, including recruitment, hiring, training, placement, discipline, personnel actions and workers’ compensation
  • Supervising daily administrative activities

Provost (Additional Charge) June 2009-till April 2014

This was an additional responsibility and the duties and responsibilities included:

  • Patronizing all societies and non-academic committees of the Institute
  • Ensuring smooth functioning of the Institute’s three hostels

Coordinator, PhD in Management Programme (2010-2013)

In 2010, I was assigned the task of designing and managing the PhD in Management programme of the Institute. I designed the programme and worked as its coordinator till July, 2013. I was relieved from this additional charge due to my appointment as Deputy Director.

Coordinator/ Incharge, Undergraduate Campus (2002-2004)

This was an additional responsibility. The Institute had two campuses. The undergraduate programmes were run in a separate campus of the Institute. There were about 400 students in this campus.

I was responsible for the smooth functioning of the campus. My main duties were:

  • Dealing with student affairs
  • Managing faculty and time schedules
  • Managing accounts of the campus
  • Devising measures for improvement of quality of education in the campus

Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan’s Approved PhD Supervisor

HEC is the federal regulatory body for higher education in Pakistan. It approves PhD holders for supervision of PhD candidates in the country after a thorough evaluation. My name has now been included in the HEC’s list of approved supervisors for the supervision of PhD candidates.

Serving as member of editorial board of the Institute’s Journal, “Business & Economic Review”, which is published semi-annually.

Project Coordinator (Capacity Building of Staff of HEIs/HEC 2015)

Served as Project Coordinator for the training programme “Capacity Building of Staff of HEIs/HEC 2015”, funded by the Tertiary Education Support Program (TESP), Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. Under this programme, 824 faculty and staff members of 44Universities/Higher Educational Institutes and HEC were trained on 8 modules at Margala Hotel, Islamabad.

I wrote the proposal for this project. My duties were designing the modules, hiring the resource persons, coordinating with TESP and writing the reports.
