MANPOWER SELECTION
  1. OBJECTIVE

1.1To have a standardised format ensuring Manpower selection is done correctly.

  1. DEFINITION

2.1The manpower selection procedure is a policy / procedure which controls the selection of manpower into Stallion Security.

  1. POLICY

3.1No one may be employed in Stallion Security without going through a man power selection process.

3.2No one may be employed under the age of 21 with a minimum of Grade 10 qualification.

3.3No one may be employed without a Grade C PSIRA accreditation and Green bar coded South African ID Book

  1. PROCEDURE

4.1All fully trained but not yet employed applicants will be required to undergo a series of tests and interviews to establish whether or not they are able to fill positions within the Company. All applicants who have successfully completed Grade C training and have a PSIRA certificate- or number as proof (website registration acceptable)will be afforded the opportunity to gain employment with Stallion Security (Pty) Ltd by way of the manpower selection process. This policy in place to ensure that suitable people are placed on induction.

4.2The Operations Managerwill set up a date to interview the applicants.

4.3Sections 4.3.1 to 4.3.4, Pre-Selection Interview, are to be completed as per ANNEXURE A and attached to the pre-selection entry examination upon completion.

4.3.1 The Operations Manager will assigna Field Manager, Area Manager and Asst. Ops Administrator(reference checks only) on a rotation basis to complete an interviewing session with all applicants. The interviewers are to ensure that each applicant has the ability to do the following by way of holding a conversation with the applicant, requesting the applicant to read a passage from a book of literature and to write a brief note on why he believes he should be considered to work for Stallion Security.

-Speak the English or Afrikaans language.

-Read the English or Afrikaans language.

-Write in the English or Afrikaans language.

Should the applicant not be able to speak, read or write the English or Afrikaans language, he/she is to be asked to leave the interview session immediately and stricken from the list of induction.

4.3.2The interviewers must ensure that each applicant is hygienically clean, clean shaven, neat hair, andshort nails if not they should be immediately be expelled from the interview process.

4.3.3The interviewers must ensure that the following is established from the applicant :

-Why he/she has chosen security as his/her job option and whether or not the applicant feels he/she would like to make Stallion Security his/her career.

-Establish from the applicant what he/she feels is the most important job function of a Security Officer.

-From where does the applicant come? Where does the applicant currently reside and for how long have they been at this place of residence? Can the applicant get to and from work?

-Have they ever been employed? If so, where and what was their job function specifically? If previously employed, the applicant must furnish the details of their employment with references.

-Are they studying and have they have any other education?

-Has the applicant got a criminal record?

4.3.4The interviewers must ensure that any applicant with previous employment history is fully screened in terms of reference checks. The reference check must be thorough where the following questions must be asked to the person offering his/her assistance in this regard. Telephonic reference checking will always be completed by the Asst. Ops Administrator and PSIRA website to be checked to verify registration

-Did (applicants name) work for your company?

-For what period of time did the applicant work for the company?

-What was the applicants job function with the company?

-Why did the applicant leave the employment of the company?

-Ask the person to describe the applicant briefly.

-Would the person recommend the applicant for employment?

4.4Once the relevant information has been gathered, the interviewer is to make a decision as to whether or not the applicant is suitable to be employed.

4.5Should the Area and Field Manager be satisfied that the applicant is of suitable quality to become an employee of Stallion Security, he is to ensure that the applicant completes the pre-selection entry examination as per (ANNEXURE B).

4.6The entry examination will have a duration period of 45 minutes, which is to be supervised by the Operations Management. Once the examination has been completed by the applicants, they are to be marked by Operations Managers, where the acceptable pass rate will be 70%.

4.7Successful applicants will be announced by the Field Manager who will draw up a list of these applicants to be forwarded to the Operations Manager as per (ANNEXURE C.)These applicants will then be placed onto the induction course.

4.8Once the applicants have completed the mandatory induction and passed the Induction Examination (ANNEXURE D), the Induction Officer will set a date for final approval with the Operations Manager.

4.9Successful Candidates will undergo an IDECO criminal clearance check before being employed at Stallion Security.

4.10On the set date, all Operations Managers will be present to make their selection of staff based on their needs and staffing numbers. During this final selection process, the Area Manager selecting new staff for his Area must ask basic questions to ascertain for himself that the inductee is of the quality that he requires.If there are quality issues the area manager is to escalate this to the Operations Manager for action.

4.11It is the responsibility of the Area manager,Asst. Ops Administrator to ensure that all new staff are kitted out in uniform that fits properly. Once the new staff have been fully kitted out in uniform, the Operations Manager will inspect the new staff.

4.12Area Managers will meet with their new staff members directly after uniforming has been completed and will ensure that these staff members are rostered to begin working.

4.13No individual that has previously been employed by Stallion may be re-employed without written permission from the Divisional Manager.
