Pastoral Planning Evangelization Notices

0th Wedding Anniversary Mass

April 30 ~ Third Sunday of Easter
The Road to Emmaus is a long Gospel passage but well worth reading again – and again: “.he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them….their eyes were opened and they recognized him, but he vanished from their sight. Then they said to each other, ‘Were not our hearts burning within us…?’” Put yourself in their place. Feel how their sadness and fear turned to joy in the breaking of the bread. Jesus is with us at every Mass in the breaking of the bread: Eucharist. Our hearts should always be burning within us.

May 7 ~ Fourth Sunday of Easter
“The Shepherd calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.” These words from today’s Gospel hold both comfort and challenge! Can we hear Jesus calling us by our name? Are we willing to respond to what Christ asks of us? We are not asked to “go it alone.” We have the promise of Christ’s presence as we go out to others and share the “Good News.” Take time this week in prayer to listen to the voice of our Good Shepherd and ask for the grace to be responsive to His call.

May 14 ~ Fifth Sunday of Easter
Jesus makes it abundantly clear in today’s Gospel that our destiny is heaven! “In my Father’s house there are many dwellings…I am going to prepare a place for you so that where I am you also may be.” In the busyness of life, we often lose sight, get waylaid or distracted from what is essential about our faith. How grateful we are today for this reminder - that Jesus is our Way, our Truth and our Life and that he awaits us in heaven. Next Saturday, May 20th eight men will be ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Boston. Pray in a special way this week for these men, that their love for Jesus Christ and the joy of serving Him and God’s people will only grow stronger each day.

May 21 ~ Sixth Sunday of Easter
Evangelization means bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ into every human situation. The New Evangelization invites each Catholic to renew their relationship with Jesus Christ and his Church. This means that we need to take our discipleship seriously. We need to grow in our ability to speak to others about Jesus and how we have come to know and love him. St. Peter put it very simply in today’s reading, “Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope – but do it with gentleness and reverence.” Can you give an explanation for your hope?

May 28 ~ Seventh Sunday of Easter
In today’s readings from the Acts of the Apostles and the Gospel of John, the Church reminds us how important prayer is in the life of a disciple. First we hear of the scene in the upper room, where all the Apostles gathered with Mary, the Mother of Jesus to devote themselves to prayer. Then in the Gospel, we hear Jesus in prayer to his Father for us! Consider the effect prayer had on Jesus, Mary and the disciples! Pray for the grace to develop a daily habit of prayer and when you do – see how your life will change.
