Part 2: The benefits of knowing and obeying the word



Members will recognize the benefits of knowing and obeying God's Word. They will become hungry for the Word.

2.CONTENT

2.1Introduction

A.John 6:68 "Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life."

As Christians, we cannot live without God's Word.

B.Jesus said in John 6:63 "The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life."

C.Let us study how the Word of God is essential for our lives.

2.2 Question

What benefits will we receive when we know and obey God's Word?

A.It is spiritual food.

B.It gives us direction.

C.Changing our perspectives according to God's will

D.Rebuking us when we sin

2.3 The benefits of knowing God's Word

A.Matthew 4:4

It nourishes our spirits and make us grow spiritually.

B.Jeremiah 15:16

God's Word is the source of joy and delight in our hearts.

C.2 Timothy 3:16-17

It is profitable for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that we may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

D.John 8:32

God's Word is truth. When we know the truth, the truth will set us free from the bondage of sin and Satan.

E.Ephesians 6:17

It is the sword of the Spirit. It can cut off our sinful nature so that we will become like Christ.

F.Matthew 7:24-27

When we know and obey the Word, we will stand firm and not fall down when we face trials and temptations.

G.Psalm 119:9

We can keep our lives pure before the Lord by living according to His Word.

2.4 Discussion questions

A.Share what happens to your life when you don't read or meditate on God's Word regularly.

B.Examine your life to see how God's Word has changed you in the past 6 months and share with your brothers and sisters.

C.Share your impressive experiences of using God's Word as a spiritual weapon in fighting spiritual warfare. Please quote the Scriptures that you have used in a specific situation.

D.If you intend to seriously study the Word and put it into practice, what will you do in order to follow through with your intention? (For example, going Bible study classes on Sundays, reading the Bible every day, memorizing the Scriptures, making notes while listening to sermons, applying God's principles in daily life)

2 Timothy 3:16-17 "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness 17so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
