The Planet: CHECK-IN BY 03:45pm for a 04:00pm START

Failure to check-in by the required time on the first day of the trials will result in automatic disqualification. Late arrivals on the second day will be permitted to bowl, but will score zero for all frames missed. Any games affected by missed frames will not be counted towards the ‘Trials Average’ used at the Carnival.
ELIGIBILITY
Nomination is open to all bowlers meeting eligibility criteria;
1) For both tournaments:
a. Be resident in the Zone for which the trials are being held
b. Have attained, or will attain, the age of 18 years on, or prior to, the first day of the Holt Tenpin Bowling Carnival in the current year
c. Have competed in at least eight (8) weeks of league competition;
i. bowling a minimum of twenty-four (24) games in a single league
ii. in a registered Centre within the Zone for which the trials are being held (unless a touring league)
iii. within the current calendar year
2) For the Restricted tournament:
a. Male bowlers must not have an average exceeding 184
b. Female bowlers must not have an average exceeding 174
3) For the Classic tournament:
a. Male bowlers must not have an average exceeding 199
b. Female bowlers must not have an average exceeding 189
AVERAGE
The average to be used for the trials must be over a minimum of twenty-four (24) games, and must be the highest of the following when measured at the end of the previous year;
1) Regular league average
HANDICAP
Handicap will be applicable to bowlers’ scores when used towards the restricted team, and shall be 100% of the difference between the bowlers' average and a threshold of 200
SMOKING and CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL
Smoking, and the Consumption of Alcohol, is prohibited whilst the Trials are in progress and until the last ball is bowled on each day.
DISPUTES
Any disputes or complaints must be lodged with the Tournament Director within fifteen minutes of the alleged infringement.
BOWLING ATTIRE
All bowlers are required to wear a shirt with a collar and tailored pants/shorts/skirts. Bowlers must present themselves in neat and tidy bowling attire with no jeans/jean shirts, football shorts, stubbies shorts or hats to be worn whilst competing without the approval of the Tournament Director. The Tournament Committee to decide on acceptable attire.
GENERAL RULES AND INFORMATION
1) All TBA Tournament Rules & Regulations will apply
2) Any Holt Challenge specific rules will apply
3) Any matters not covered in the conditions will be decided by the Tournament Committee
4) Participation in your State Championships will not be a requirement
5) If a Team Vacancy arises the spot will be filled by the next available bowler who participated in the trials
6) Depending on the outcome of Fundraising Events throughout the year, individual bowlers will be required to pay all expenses remaining.
SELECTION OF TEAMS
At the completion of the 14 games, the Tournament Committee will announce the teams for both the Restricted and Classic Challenges, based upon the following;
1) DARRELL HOLT RESTRICTED CHALLENGE TEAM
Seven (7) male, and seven (7) female bowlers based on total score with handicap will be declared the Darrell Holt Restricted Challenge Team for the current year
a. Positions awarded in the team will be proportional to the number of bowlers participating in each centre in Darwin and Alice Springs.
b. In the event of a tie for the final position in either division, a one game playoff will be used to determine the final place
c. In the event of a tie for first position in either division, a one game playoff will be used to determine first place
d. Handicap shall be applied as normal to the playoff game.
2) DARRELL HOLT CLASSIC CHALLENGE TEAM
Four (4) male, and Four (4) female bowlers based on total scratch score only will be declared the Darrell Holt Classic Challenge Team for the current year
a. Positions awarded in the team will be proportional to the number of bowlers participating in each centre in Darwin and Alice Springs.
b. In the event of a tie for either the final position or the first position in either division, a one game playoff will be conducted with the winner taking the higher position
REPRESENTATION at TROPHY EVENTS
The top qualifier in each team, of each male and female, will earn the right to represent the zone at the relevant trophy event during the current years Holt Tenpin Bowling Carnival.
THE HOLT TENPIN BOWLING CARNIVAL
The 2014 Darrell Holt Challenge Teams will compete in the Holt Tenpin Bowling Carnival to be conducted at AMF Moonah, Tasmania, 10th August to 22nd August 2014.
All bowlers who were not successful in making the teams are welcome to attend the Holt Tenpin Bowling Carnival to participate in the other events. Further information can be found at www.holtchallenge.org.au.
COSTS AND DEPOSITS
The following information is applicable to both Classic and Restricted teams
Costs for Challenge Teams may include Accommodation, Travel, Lunch (during challenge events only), All Events Entries, Uniform, Dinner Tickets, and the Tournament Registration Fee. These costs must be paid as per the following payment schedule. The following information is applicable to either team. Bowlers failing to meet this schedule may be removed from the team.
1. $500.00 on or before Wednesday 9th April
This payment is required for all bowlers and team officials.
2. $500.00 on or before Friday 23rd May
This payment is required for all bowlers and team officials.
3. $500.00 on or before Friday 11th July
This payment is required for all bowlers and team officials.
4. Balance, on or before Friday 1st August
If any payment cannot be met by the due date without prior notice, the person involved may be deemed ineligible to participate in the Holt Challenge for the current year
Balance of fees may be made at any time in line with the above schedule.
These costs are based on past expenses & estimates, but you will be given further details in a welcome pack upon being named in the Classic or Restricted team. You will also have final invoices by 30th June 2014 for final payments.
