YouthBuild Program Manager

YouthBuild Program: All over the world, YouthBuild programs unleash the positive energy of low-income young people, breaking the cycle of poverty, to rebuild their communities and their lives with a commitment to work, education, family and community. Through an integrated curriculum which includes enrollment in RiseUp Community School, construction or health care training, college and career readiness training and leadership development, participants earn their diploma, certifications and skills to help them succeed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Supervision & Management:
  • Hire, orient, supervise and evaluate staff; promoting a strong culture of accountability, appreciation, and continuous growth and improvement.
  • Develop andoversee the alumni mentor and VISTA positions.Collaborate with RiseUp Community School staff to ensure seamless service delivery for students and Corpsmembers.
  • Coordinate and ensure high quality programming occurs in the following programmatic components: leadership development, college and career readiness training and placement, healthy lifestyles, follow-up support, resource provision, service, and counseling.
  • Provide direct support to YouthBuild staff in addressing Corpsmember performance issues, utilizing a solution-focused, restorative justice framework.
  • Enforce the policies and program procedures outlined in the MHYC and RiseUp Community Schools’ handbooks.
  • Substitute for Crew Leaders in the field when necessary.
  • Serve as a leader within the agency and as part of the agency’s Program/Project Leadership Team.
  • Reports to the Regional Director: Metro Denver.
Program Management:
  • Build a strong knowledge and detailed understanding of the national YouthBuild model, DOL and other grant-related regulations, AmeriCorps requirements, and MHYC policy/procedure to promote successful programmatic compliance and achievement of outcomes.
  • Create and implement successful selection strategies for Corpsmembers from RiseUp student body. Support outreach staff with presentations and procedural oversight.
  • Build and maintain a good working relationships withvarious community partners; including post-secondary education partners, construction training and worksite partners, employment and training partners, service project and resource partners.
  • Provide thorough evaluation monitoring program progress, quality and sponsor satisfaction.
  • Ensure the staff team is accurately tracking data needed for various reports and databases.
  • Ensure thorough understanding and strong adherence to safety protocols. Support the Operations Coordinator in the oversight of MHYC tools, vehicles, and uniforms.
  • Develop systems to improve program operations, coordination, and collaboration among staff.
  • Proactively engage in the national and local YouthBuild and youth corps efforts, building relationships and participating in conferences, meetings and committees.
Administrative
  • Prepare and submit high quality grant reports as required by program funders. Serve as the lead and prepare for all funder-related site visits.
  • Manage the following database systems: DYB (YouthBuild USA), MIS (DOL), ETO (MHYC), and any other database systems required to document the Corpsmembers' activities, hours, etc.
  • Ensure AmeriCorps regulations are followed with great accuracy and attention to detail. Manage compliance and Corpsmember enrollments and exits.
  • Develop and oversee the programmatic annual budget.
  • Ensure that participant files and attendance records are complete, accurate and updated in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned by theRegional Director: Metro Denver.
Program Support
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Support the implementation of Student Advocacy Groups and Team Meetings in coordination with RiseUp Community School leadership staff.
  • Provide work program information and reports to other staff as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • BA degree preferred in related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in managing youth development programs in community-based settings.
  • Significant prior experience in grant management, budget, and report writing required.
  • Significant prior experience in working with young people coming from a wide variety of backgrounds.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong management and supervisory skills.
  • Strong commitment to helping young people succeed in an innovative program, to reorient their lives, nurture their leadership skills, and enable them to make a difference in their community.
  • Strong ability to fully understand the big picture programmatic vision while translating it to day to day implementation and decision making.
  • Strong knowledge of the local community resources preferred.
  • Ability to motivate and hold others accountable, communicate effectively, and demonstrate safe work practice.
  • Strong writing skills: ability to prepare detailed reports that communicate information in a professional, timely manner.
  • Strong planning, attention to detail and organizational skills. Must be proficient with computers.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs., and spend 8 hours a day working outside on construction sites.
  • Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record and ability to drive a 12-passenger van to and from work-sites.
  • Pre-employment background check will be required.
  • Pre-employment drug screen required, May be subject to random drug testing throughout employment.
  • Subject to FBI background check, which includes fingerprinting

Hours & Compensation

This is a full-time salaried exempt position with benefits. Salary range for this position is: $45,000-$50,000. This position is 100% grant funded. Hours are M-F 8a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Salary is commensurate with experience.
