Youth Worker – LGBT Young People - yOUTh(Youth Out) Project Kirklees
The Brunswick Centre is a Calderdale and Kirklees based charity delivering a number of projects and services locally.
Following a successful application to the Big Lottery Fund we are seeking a full-time (Qualified or soon to be qualified) Youth Worker (35-hours per week) to join our team for this 5-year project.
Safeguarding underpins our approach to delivering services, working with service users and the recruitment of staff, sessional workers and volunteers. As such, applicants need to show and demonstrate their commitment to safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk. In addition, applicants will need to demonstrate their:
- commitment to equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice
- ability to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds in a respectful and empowering way
- commitment to confidentiality
- organisational and team working skills
The main aims of the post are to ensure:
- The charity delivers quality services which improve outcomes for LGBT young people in Kirklees
- LGBT young people in Kirklees develop skills, confidence and high self-esteem so they have happy healthier lives and act as role models for current and future generations
- LGBT young people have a voice and influence on their needs, services and local strategic agendas
- A contribution to the challenging and reduction in the health inequalities which impact disproportionally on LGBT young people
The main outcomes the post-holder will be expected to achieve are:
- More LGBT young people engaged and visible, including those deemed hard to reach with the yOUTh project
- LGBT young people reporting they are better informed and have happy lives in school, at home and in the community
- More services in Kirklees are LGBT young people friendly with more LGBT young people reporting positive experiences of local services
Salary:£26,822 – 28,485
6% pension contribution } after successful
Sovereign Health Fund Membership} 6-month probation
