Youth Director Immediate Opening Temple Baptist Church, Jamestown, ND

The primary tasks of the Youth Director will be to equip middle- and high-school students to be disciples of Jesus to live on mission with Him and to give direction and leadership to all children and youth ministries of TBC. It is essential that the Youth Director models a healthy missional life in community and has a passion for children and youth to discover their potential in Christ.

Qualifications:

.1) Character:

Must have a vibrant walk with God which has produced proven character.

Must be teachable, a learner who, in humility, faces the opportunities of ministry with wisdom, grace and joy.

Must work well with both students and adults in a team approach.

Must be aware of personal weaknesses and strengths.

.2) Core Competencies:

Mature biblical competence, using the Bible as a foundation in all ministry areas.

Demonstrates an openness to learn and grow in the areas of missional theology, spiritual formation, group dynamics and leadership development.

Proven disciple-maker, who has a heart for children and youth to come to know Christ, approaching disciple-making as a life-long process.

demonstrates good organizational skills, especially training/coordinating volunteers

Strong people skills, able to relate to people of various ages and states of life.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

.3) Education and Experience:

Some college education required. A college degree and some ministry training preferred. TBC will consider financially assisting an applicant desiring to continue her/his education.

Experience leading in youth ministry highly desired.

Full agreement with the NAB Statement of Beliefs. Specific Responsibilities:

.1) Lead the congregation in equipping TBC children and youth to be missional disciples of Jesus Christ.

.2) Provide opportunities for the youth to meet, fellowship, and develop relationships with others through gatherings, activities, and events.

.3) Engage the youth in God’s Word through study and life application.

.4) Develop a team of students and adults (i.e. sponsors, mentors, discipleship teams, etc.), who will work together to achieve the youth ministry team goals.

.5) Network with other youth directors/leaders (community and North Central Association).

.6) Meet weekly with other ministry and office staff for prayer and coordinated ministry planning.

.7) Maintain an agreed upon number of office hours and checking email/messages regularly when not at the office.

.8) Encourage youth participation in Junior and Senior High Camp, as well as youth retreats at Crystal Springs Camp. Attend as feasible.

.9) Provide leadership, direction, and administration with the Children and Youth Ministry Team and all children’s ministries.

.10) Research/develop/provide curriculum for children and youth Christian Education.

.11) Recruit and train children and youth teachers and volunteers.

12) Anticipated time commitment of 40-45 hours/week with the expectation of taking one day off per week as a personal Sabbath.

Accountability:

The Youth Director has an active working relationship with the Lead Pastor. He/she is responsible administratively to the Lead Pastor.

The Youth Director has an active working relationship with the chairperson of the Children and Youth Ministry Team and will be a participating member of that team.

The Youth Director is ultimately responsible to the congregation and will submit a written report at the Annual Meeting. TBC is 250-member, 50 year-old congregation located in Jamestown, ND, affiliated with the North American Baptist Conference (NAB).
