100 Points - Major Assignment

Your task is to create a presentation that joins two topics related to this course.

The first half of your presentation should be on the ethicist of your own choosing. This individual may be chosen from course reading or your own individual research. Content required for this aspect of the presentation is as follows:

  1. A short biography of the individual
  2. A synopsis of his or her key theories/philosophies
  3. The impact or implications of these thoughts on society
  4. A real-life situation that applies to these theories or philosophies (may be real or fictional)

The second half of your presentation should be on an ethical issue in science today. This controversial topic should be derived from your own individual research. Content required for this aspect of the presentation is as follows:

  1. A short background/summary of the ethical issue
  2. A synopsis of the various arguments present in this dilemma
  3. The impact or implications this issue has on the future
  4. Any connections that may be drawn to course topics to this point
  5. Your opinion on the issue

General Expectations

  1. Your presentation may take any form
  2. Your presentation must be a minimum of 7 minutes and a maximum of 12 minutes. Any questions from your classmates will not count against your time.
  3. Please be prepared to present on the day on which you are scheduled. Be sure not to simply read from a piece of paper or your presentation’s content. Notecards are acceptable.
  4. Neatness and organization on your presentation are important.
  5. Ensure your presentation is interesting and informative to your classmates.
