This grant program will provide general operating support to a limited number of qualifying Lutheran organizations to help maintain basic needs outreach programs being provided for their local or regional community.

Organizational Eligibility
•Lutheran organizations which are engaged in providing ongoing basic needs services such as food, clothing, shelter, etc., and serve a broad or significant portion of the local or regional population.
•Lutheran organizations that can show how the economic conditions have created an immediate or impending need to continue their basic needs services.
•Lutheran organizations that can demonstrate they have taken steps on their own, including active participation of the executive director and board members or congregational council to strengthen the sustainability of their outreach efforts.
•Lutheran organizations that can show how the one-time grant will provide a temporary bridge as they work to strengthen the sustainability of their outreach efforts.
NOTE: Funding for Lutheran education and seasonal basic needs drives such as a Thanksgiving or Christmas food drive are excluded from grant eligibility.
