We make this as easy as we can for you…
All prices listed in here include all applicable taxes and deposits. The price you see is the price that you pay. Just add in the flat $5 shipping fee. We ship all packages via priority mail for faster arrival, and we eat the additional charges as part of the cost of keeping your business. It costs us upwards of $25 to ship a 35# package to you via priority mail. Most arrive within two days of shipping, but the post office does not guarantee this. We also now put a bright yellow neon sticker on your package if you order any perishables in the hope that your mail room will give you your package sooner rather than later. Some mail rooms hold your packages longer than others before giving them to you. In order to give you the best chance of getting your packages in a timely manner, without having them sit in the boxes over a weekend, we ship the overwhelming majority of packages out to the eastern end of the state on Mondays and to the western end of the state on Tuesdays. Depending on what is in the order and the timing for end-of-the month packages, we now hold all orders until the following Monday or Tuesday before shipping, so that we can purchase all perishables fresh immediately before shipping and maximize the chances that the package will arrive and be handed out before the weekend.
We accept institutional checks, money orders, personal checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, or PayPal. To pay via credit card, have your family/friends call us, send us an email, or visit our website, SecondChanceCatalog.com. We will take it from there. We ship out all orders once funds have cleared. We don’t hold your packages for two weeks because of a personal check if the bank clears the funds in two days. If you provide us with a family member’s email address, we will send them the tracking info for your package, so they can see exactly when you will receive it. We will not use the emails for any purpose other than that. Get their permission first, please.
If we sell name-brand items, we list that in the product description. For a lot of items, we sell store-brand or generic items if we feel the quality is worth the price. However, if you really, really need a specific brand of something, or want something that is not in our catalog, just send us a request for a quote, and we will let you know how much we can sell it to you for. This catalog is still a work-in-progress, and only lists a fraction of the inventory that our suppliers carry. We can’t list everything because it would be as thick as a phone book. Even if our suppliers don’t carry it, we will do our best to find it for you, if we have to go out and buy it ourselves from a retail store. We don’t want you shopping anywhere else; we want to be your one-stop catalog for everything. We don’t have it all in this catalog yet, but our next version will be even bigger and better…
When you place an order, you can use the order forms at the end of this catalog, or you can just write down what you want on a piece of paper and send it in with your payment. If you do use a separate piece of paper, remember to be very specific about what sizes and colors you want if there are options listed. If you don’t, your order could be delayed while we try and figure out what you really wanted to order, unless you just want us to guess. Hmm, extra small and puke green, ok… Save us all that trouble, OK? Also, be careful that you do not go over the 35# limit on food items. We list the weights of each item where possible, but remember to take into account the type of container the food is packaged in. If you order a lot of canned goods, the weight of the cans is not on the label, only the food inside them is.
All prices are subject to change without notice. However, we will not send you a more expensive item and then send you a bill. We sometime sell out of specific items, sizes, or colors. If that happens, depending on the nature of the item, we will either replace it with something similar, or we will contact you to see if there is some way we can still accommodate you or if you want us to refund your money. It is possible that we may have overlooked a typographical error in this catalog, and if so, you’ll please have to forgive us.
We do our best to make sure every item in this catalog meets the specifications of DOCS Directive #4911, but as you know, each facility has different ways of interpreting things. If something is disallowed at your facility, we will refund your money and the cost of shipping it back (if it is worth the cost of shipping it back – otherwise, discard it). Just send us the contraband form that your package room gives you. We will then remove it from our catalog. We want you to be able to order with confidence from us, and we don’t want you to have to second-guess what will be allowed into your facility, like you have to do when you order from our competitors. We only want you to hear good news on your visit to the package room, not bad news. All of our catalogs are institution specific. Ours do not cover multiple states and have items that you only wish would be allowed at your facility.
If a package is refused by the facility for any reason, because of your transfer or loss of package privileges, we will deduct the actual cost of the shipping from your credit. So, do your best to stay out of the box. It is easier that way. We will refund your money for anything we can put back on our shelves and re-sell, minus the actual cost of shipping (not just the $5 we charged you, but the amount it cost us to actually ship it), and a 10% restocking fee.
Warranties, repairs, blah, blah, blah. If you’ve read down this far, you must really be bored. We stand behind our products, and check to make sure everything is good before we ship it to you. If there is a problem, let us know, and we will bend over backwards to make you happy. Just remember, stuff happens, and if you drop something in the toilet, we are not responsible. Whatever is our fault, however, we will rectify. We want you to be happy with our service, and not buy your stuff from one of those other catalogs. Some facilities still allow other types of Pepperidge Farm or Arnold breads in that have the double bag inside but that are glued shut instead of heat sealed like a potato chip bag, if they come directly from a vendor. If your facility is one of those, you may still order the other types of breads that we stock, such as the Swirl breads and the Rye and other flavors, but at your own risk. We still have them in stock, but most package rooms will no longer accept them.
