Job Description

UK Management Accountant

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

Reporting to the Group Finance Director, you will be responsible for producing all internal management reports and external statutory reports for the company and for overseeing and offering assistance to the various functions both within the Finance Department and to Darley Departments as users of financial information.

Your duties will include:

•Proposing and adhering to the Annual Accounting Calendar and delivering reports based on that calendar once agreed and approved;

•Production of Monthly & Quarterly Management Accounts, Annual Statutory Accounts, VAT, Tax & Intra-stat Returns and any other ad-hoc reports required, according to the agreed Annual Accounting Calendar;

•Liaison with external Auditors and with other departments and companies associated with Darley to ensure completeness and accuracy of the accounting records and reports;

•Overseeing all accounting functions including Sales and Purchase Ledgers, Fixed Assets, Horse Ledgers (and interfaces from the Horse Management System, Nomination Sales, Fixed Assets, Payroll. (n.b. Credit Control and Nominations Debtors are not the responsibility of the Management Accountant)

•Production of the annual budget, reporting on and explaining actual variances thereon;

•Overseeing and Organising the work of the UK Accounting Team;

•Liaison with Property Dept for the smooth running of Qube Property Management system to ensure that the Financial information contained therein interfaces correctly with Navision;

•Ensuring Financial Procedures are complied with, staff are trained in their use and adequate cross training of staff is undertaken to ensure cover in the event of absence or departure.

•Assisting with any other tasks and projects that may arise.

Candidate Profile:

Mandatory:

  • Qualified or Finalist (Qualified by Experience) ACMA/ACCA Accountant
  • Ist rate Excel skills – e.g. Macro, Pivot tables and vlookups
  • Excellent hands on familiarity & empathy with Computerised Accounting systems – e.g. JD Edwards, SAP, Oracle, MD Dynamics, Sun etc.
  • Systems orientation and mindset – always looking for better ways of doing things through automation/computerisation
  • Minimum 5 years experience incorporating:
  • Managing a small team
  • Preparing and reviewing Management Accounts
  • Financial Analysis
  • Budget Preparation
  • Liaison with Budget Holders
  • Hands on computerised accounting skills (G/L, A/P, Cash Book) with major system (e.g. Navision,JDE,SAP, Oracle)
  • Good communication and Interpersonal Skills, including liaison with Budget Holders
  • Organised and Timetable orientated
