Technology in Coordination Exercise

Your agency’s Head of Operations has asked you to update her on the current operational status of current crisis situations. This is so that the Head of Ops can be adequately prepared for a meeting she will have to attend with the Head of Agency who has requested information on the following situations:

Group I: Haiti Earthquake

Group II: Sahel Crisis (Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania, Niger (the), Nigeria, Senegal)

Group III: Yemen Humanitarian Crisis

Using the course sessions as a guide, now utilize internet based technology and technical links so that you can be adequately prepared to present a concise and well researched update (5 minutes)on the disaster(s) assigned to you. Emphasis should be on elements of existing or potential humanitarian coordination. The Head of Operations also wants an update on where UNDAC is currently deployed and knowledge as to any IFRC FACT or ERU deployments as applicable.

Pay particular attention to the role of the wider humanitarian community including possible non-traditional actors. You may use maps, Sitreps and other information collected for background purposes.
