This year’s auditions will take place on Saturday 15th July in the Community Room at Salisbury Playhouse.

We are looking for young performers aged 12 – 17 to create two teams of 6 young company members.

The role will primarily involve dancing and acting but you will be required to sing in the larger ensemble numbers.

What to expect in pantomime

·  This is a chance to perform with professional acting company and work with a professional production team.

·  It is great fun and you will be performing on the main stage.

·  This is an amazing experience but it is a big commitment and you will need the support of family and friends.

·  Each young performer will receive four complimentary tickets for the production (these can be used subject to availability & performance dates)

·  You will be required to miss school for dress rehearsals and performances (this will be minimal) and perform over the Christmas holidays.

·  You will be expected to make your own travel arrangements to get to and from Salisbury Playhouse and back to school (after morning performances).

·  Rehearsals are throughout November – up to four evenings per week including Saturday morning rehearsals.

·  There are 50 performances during the run with up to 12 per week including Sunday’s and Public Holidays These will be split evenly between two groups.

·  Please see the full schedule attached - we are unable to confirm team allocations at audition stage so please ensure you are available on all rehearsal and performance dates

·  We have a licenced Chaperone who looks after all young company members at all rehearsals, costume fittings and shows. They will also supervise breaks and rest time. Young company members are not allowed to leave Salisbury Playhouse during their sessions, specifically in the gap between performances.

Auditions

·  There are audition sessions in the morning and afternoon.

·  Sessions will last approximately one hour

·  There are 12 spaces in each session

·  Auditions are led by the Director, Ryan McBryde & Choreographer, Nicky Griffiths with a licenced chaperone present

On arrival

·  Make your way to the Welcome Desk

·  Your forms and details will be checked

·  Height will be measured

·  Photograph will be taken (please ensure you complete the photograph permission form in the application pack)

Please ensure you:

·  Come ready to have some fun working with our professional director & choreographer

·  Wear comfortable clothes you can dance in and soft soles shoes

·  Know the audition song (words can be found on the next page)

·  Bring a labelled bottle of water

·  Be ready to sing, dance and act

After auditions

·  It can take some time to work out the team allocations

·  Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email on the day

·  If you are successful you will be contacted by phone as soon as possible

·  You will have 48 hours to decide if you would like to accept the place on the team

·  Once you have accepted Salisbury Playhouse will contact your school for permission for absence (this is usually classed as an authorised absence by the school)

·  Salisbury Playhouse will apply for a Childs Performance Licence from your local council

·  ONLY once we have received permission for absence from your school can we confirm your place in the team

·  Once your place is confirmed we will contact you with your team allocation, full rehearsal schedules and performance dates.

·  There will be a parents meeting with our Company Stage Manager on the day of Costume Fittings for a chance to ask any questions and find out more about the process

How to Register

·  Complete the registration form below – as fully as possible & indicating your audition time preference

·  Complete the photograph permission form

·  Attach a recent photograph – this should be passport style, head and shoulders

·  Return the form to Salisbury Playhouse

·  The deadline for applications is 5pm Monday 10th July 2017

·  Auditions sessions are allocated on a first come first served basis and times fill up quickly, we cannot guarantee your preferred time

·  You will be notified of your audition time by email no later than 4pm Thursday 13rd July 2017 – please do not contact Salisbury Playhouse prior to this as allocations will not have been made

Please note:

• We will ensure that when you are scheduled to perform in two shows on one day that there will be at least 1½

hrs break between your last appearance onstage in the first show and your first appearance in the second show.

• The performance times on Tuesday 6th December, Sunday 18th December, Tuesday 20th December, Saturday 24th December, Saturday 31st December, Monday 2nd January and Wednesday 4th January are earlier than the rest of the run!

Photography Consent Form

From time to time we may wish to take photographs or videos of children engaged in activities at the Playhouse and use them for publicity purposes. The purpose of this form is to ensure that a parent, guardian or carer has the opportunity to decide whether or not to consent to this.

The photographs or videos will either be taken by members of Playhouse staff, or will be taken by professional photographers when Playhouse staff are present.

They will be used for publicity purposes, which could include:

·  part of press coverage in the local/regional papers

·  being reproduced in the theatre brochure or programmes

·  being displayed in the foyer of the Playhouse
