Baltimore, MD 21215 / TIZMORET SHOSHANA CAMP GUIDELINES
Dear Parents and Campers,
Welcome to the Tizmoret Shoshana Family! We hope that this summer will be a wonderful experience for everyone. Tizmoret Shoshana prides itself in fostering a warm and loving atmosphere where Jewish girls can fully express their creativity, make lasting friendships, and advance their skills in a particular art medium. At Tizmoret we emphasize the central role that the Torah plays in expressing one’s creativity. The faculty members serve as role models for the girls, demonstrating that it is possible to express one’s creativity while remaining true to the ways of a Bas Yisroel.
The guidelines that are outlined in this packet will assist campers, parents and staff as we work together to create a fun, pleasant and enriching summer experience. May we merit to use our gifts to enhance Ahavas Hashem and increase the light of Torah in the world.
Sincerely,
Dr. Mark and Chana Singer
Camp Directors

Attendance

Attendance at all activities will prove the most rewarding use of your time at Tizmoret Shoshana.

§  You should always arrive at assigned activities on time.

§  If you must be late or absent, you should get permission from your counselor.

§  We want you to be well-fed, so attendance at all meals is manditory.

Dress code

דוד המלך said “כל כבודה בת מלך פנימה” “The dignity of a Jewish Daughter is found within.” As Bnos Yisroel we should always dress and conduct ourselves with refinement and grace.

§  Your skirts should cover your knees at all times

§  Any slits in your skirts should be below the knee, not above

§  Your shirts should cover your collarbone and elbows

§  Your socks should cover your ankles, and you must wear shoes at all times

§  Images or words appropriate for a Bas Yisroel are fine

§  Pajamas are for sleeping areas only, and not to be worn in public areas

§  Pierced ears are fine, but please no other body piercings

§  Hair dyes should be a natural hair color

Electronics

§  We want all campers to enjoy all of the wonderful facets of the Tizmoret experience; so, please, no electronics such as iPads, iPods, CD players, DVD players, Gameboys, DSs, MP3 players, etc. If you do bring any electronics to camp, your counselor will make sure it is stored in a safe place, and it will be returned to you at the end of camp.

§  We prefer that you not bring a cell phone to camp. If you do, you will need to give it to your counselor to hold. You will be able to pick up your phone on Friday during a designated time so you can contact your family before Shabbos (please note that cell phone reception can be very spotty). If you don’t bring a phone, there will be one in the office for emergency use, and you can use that phone to call home on Friday.

§  A computer will be available for staff members for camp related needs.

Books/Magazines

§  Please make sure that any reading material you bring with you is appropriate for a בת ישראל .

Decorum

We have an opportunity to make a Kiddush Hashem during our time at camp.

§  When you are finished working/eating in an area, please clean up after yourself.

§  Room inspection is conducted every morning. Do your part to ensure that your room is neat and clean.

§  Once there is “lights out” at night, you will need to return to your room for the rest of the night. No roaming of halls is permitted.

Snacks from Home

We are a nut free camp. Please do not bring any snacks that contain nuts or traces of nuts.

Laundry

Laundry will be done once during camp for an additional $30 per person.

Agreement

We want every camper to have a positive experience in camp. If the behavior of a camper influences the other campers in a negative way, then that camper will not be able to remain at camp. If you are unable to follow these guidelines while you are in camp, you will be sent home at your parents’ expense. Once camp starts, we will give no refunds of tuition or deposit for the time remaining after you leave.
