Welcome to the Camosun College Co-op/Internship experience!

Congratulations on your commitment to enhance your formal Camosun program with a Co-operative Education or Internship work experience. This is a great way to gain experience and broaden your future job prospects.

The career management and job search skills you gained during the Workplace Preparation course(COOP WEP) willassist you with your job development. Please connect with your Employment Facilitator for further assistance. As well, use the resources of the Co-op and Student Employment office including the Co-op and Internship job board (CIMS) to maximize your chance of obtaining the best possible work term.

To participate in a co-operative or internship work experience, you mustweb declareand register in a work term course. Registration in a work term course is also a requirement for continued access to the postings on the Co-op and Internship job board (CIMS). All registration policies and fee payment deadlines apply.

Uponsecuring a suitable work term position, you need to inform the Co-op and Student Employment office immediately and verify your registration status.

When you secure a position through the co-op and internship posting process, you won’t be eligible to withdraw and obtain a refund except for documented medical reasons.

If you choose to opt out of the work term course prior to obtaining a position, please advise the Co-op & Student Employment office immediately.

In the event that, in spite of sustained efforts on your part,you are unable to obtain a position before the last day to start work (please inquire date with your Employment Assistant), you must contact the Co-op office and your Employment Facilitator no later than five days after the last possible day to start a work term as you may be authorized for a refund of your work term tuition and deposit. The Co-op and Student Employment Office reserve the right to withhold the deposit.

Note:Students who have completed their program are considered students in that program for one year after completion and in that year are eligible to undertake and complete work terms.

CIMS Waiver

By using the Co-op Education job board (CIMS), you are consenting to disclosing your personal information and work term application and placement history to the Co-op and Student Employment staff. Further, you are consenting to disclosing your application and placement history to other Co-op students within your program.

This information is collected by the Co-op & Student Employment department of Camosun College and will be used for tracking student application and work term placement activities. Should you have any questions about the collection and disclosure of this personal information please contact

All applicants must:

  1. Be registered in a Co-op or Internship eligible program at Camosun College
  2. Have a GPA of at least 3.0 (for mandatory co-op programs GPA requirement may differ)
  3. Have completed the appropriate courses for the requirements of your program
  4. Have completed the Co-op WEP course (Hospitality Management – the equivalent credit course)
  5. Complete and signthis Student Application form for the desired academic year and submit to the Co-op department

Important:The Criminal Record Review Act requires that students registered in a post-secondary program, where they may be working with children and/or vulnerable adults must have a criminal record check done by Camosun College through the B.C. Government’s Criminal Record Review program. Please refer to for more information.
