YORKSHIRE CRICKET PATHWAYS TO EXCELLENCE PROGRAMME

PARENTS INFORMATION

When attending our courses:

All young cricketers should arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the specified start time, suitably dressed for cricket - in whites with non-marking footwear.

Cricketers should bring all of their own cricket equipment to every session (bat, pads, gloves, box. etc), including their own cricket ball.

We also recommend that everyone brings sufficient drinks to keep hydration levels up throughout the session, a big bottle of water would be ideal.

Please ensure that cricketers are collected promptly. If there is a delay, please let the Centre Director know at the earliest opportunity.

Venues:

All of the venues used by Yorkshire Cricket have been safety checked and risk assessments undertaken in accordance with the YCB Health & Safety Policy (a copy available upon request). Our venues provide the perfect environment for children to develop their cricket skills and enjoy our bespoke courses.

Registration of your Interest for District Centre’s:

You can register your interest by completing an online form. The form is located on the Pathways website www.yorkshirecb.com/pathways. All registration forms should be fully completed and returned by 25th July after which no further registrations will be accepted.

Once the processing period is complete you will be emailed on or just after 1st August to confirm if your registration has been successful.

Upon receiving confirmation on a place on the programme you will be asked to complete a consent form and make payment, this to be completed by 31st August.

Gold, Silver & Bronze Centres

Players who represent Yorkshire in a County Age Group fixture this season will automatically qualify for a place in one of the Gold, Silver & Bronze Centres .

Parents of these players will receive an email on or just after 25th October which will notify you as to which Centre you have been offered a place.

You will then have until 30th November to confirm your place, complete the consent form and provide make payment.

Coaching Staff:

Yorkshire Cricket believes in low player to coach ratio for ultimate player development.

All Coaching staff are ECB qualified at Level 2, 3 or 4.

All coaching staff are CRB checked

All coaching staff have current and up to date first aid and child protection qualifications.

Expected behaviour from children:

Show respect for all children on all courses, treating them as they would wish to be treated.

Swearing, abusive and hurtful language is not acceptable. Aggressive behaviour or violence cannot be tolerated.

·  Show respect for all personal property and the facilities.

·  Show respect for all staff.

·  Listen to and follow instructions of the coaching teams.

·  One child’s behavior will not be allowed to endanger the other children in the group by absorbing or distracting the coaching team.

Fitness:

Winter Pathways nets are there to enhance skills levels of selected players and not fitness levels. Students are expected, therefore, to maintain appropriate levels of fitness throughout the winter to enable them to participate fully in the sessions.

Changing:

Without the expressed consent of the student and his / her parents or guardians, students who are under 16 are not permitted to change in the same changing area at the same time as students aged over 16 who are attending the same pathways sessions. If this may cause a problem, the YCB/Yorkshire Pathways recommends that students arrive changed for the net sessions.

The wearing of Helmets: ECB Position

Students are expected to wear a helmet at all times when batting or keeping wicket. The Director of the centre has the right to insist on the wearing of helmets if they consider that such a safety measure is necessary at any time.

Parent/Guardian responsibilities:

We would expect you to inform us both verbally and via the course Consent Form of any potential behaviour issues that would help us deal with your child whilst on this session. You should be aware of the expected behaviour when your child attends each session. We would expect you to support action taken by staff to encourage good behaviour.

Parents / Guardian Spectating:

In the interests of safety, parents/guardians are requested not to remain in the cricket working area (i.e. the Sports Hall where the Nets are) during the coaching sessions. Parents/guardians are welcome to view coaching sessions from a balcony or defined viewing area where one is available.

Staff responsibilities:

To treat all children fairly and recognise that each is an individual.

·  To protect children’s self-esteem and develop them.

·  To provide a challenging, relevant, appropriate and fun programme.

·  To be clear about the rules and use sanctions consistently. No physical punishment will ever be used.

·  To be a good role model.

·  Not to use any form of physical intervention, e.g. holding, unless it is necessary to prevent personal injury to the child, other children, an adult or serious damage to property.

·  Any significant incident of unacceptable behaviour is recorded and the parent informed of the incident on the day.

·  Parents may be involved in a clear behaviour management procedure

§  Initially the Group Coach will try to deal with the situation.

§  If unsuccessful: Centre Director will try and deal with the situation, removing the child from the group but having a witness.

§  If unsuccessful: Parent/Carer will be involved. If the parent/carer does not come to collect the child, a note will be given to them requesting that the parent/carer sees the Centre Director.

§  If unsuccessful: The Centre Director will consider suspending the child after consultation with Pathways Co-Ordinator.

Communications:

The Yorkshire Cricket Board and Director of the Pathways centre will communicate predominantly by email once players are confirmed as attending the Pathways programme. So please ensure you provide a parental email address that is current and accessed regularly. Contact details will be shared with the Director only should he be required to contact the players directly.

Head Office:

Parents will be contacted under the following circumstances:

·  Serious injury such as a broken or suspicion of broken bone.

·  If the child is unable to participate due to serious illness.

·  If a child is seriously upset about being on a course.

·  Bang to head that may result in concussion.

·  Any situation resulting in a hospital visit.

·  Serious behavioural problems.

Mobile Phones:

We recognise that parents may prefer to be able to contact their children during the courses but we would prefer your children not to bring mobile phones because of the possibility of them being lost, stolen or damaged. If they do bring these onto the courses we would need them to be switched off except in emergencies, with permission of the coaches. This would be at their own risk and the coaches must be informed that they are on-site.

Insurance:

All of our courses have public liability and employer's liability insurance cover.

Lost property:

We cannot guarantee the return of lost property, but we endeavour to return items that are clearly labelled with your child's full name. In most cases, lost property will be left at the venue for ease of collection.

Thank you in advance for your co-operation in these matters and for your understanding of our endeavour to create a safe environment for all Students and Coaches.
