The Norwegian Government Scholarship

General information:

q  The complete application with attachments should not exceed 15 pages. It should be accompanied by the following documents (text on one page, only) in A-4 DIN:

·  Copies of your academic degrees, including results

·  Letter of recommendation

·  Letter of invitation from a Norwegian host institution (if any)

·  List of publications (if applicable)

q  The form must be completed in English or Norwegian.

q  The form should be downloaded from the web address below. If the form is not filled in electronically, please write legibly in black ink.

q  Artists or musicians must enclose slides, music cassettes/CD/MiniDiscs or other work samples - one set only. Please enclose a detailed description of the work samples. These samples will not be returned.

q  Please submit one application form only, no copies are needed.

Guidelines for filling in this form, numbers referring to the various blocks:

1.  Personal information about the applicant. All fields must be filled in. When not relevant, please write n/a.

2.  Information about the academic institution in your home country where you currently are studying or doing research. It is very important that you enclose a letter of recommendation.

3.  Please quote exact address etc. A letter of invitation is recommended. For a list of Norwegian higher academic institutions, please see our website.

4.  Please tick one box only. Choose the academic field predominant in your (forthcoming) research or study.

5.  The title of your project should be stated in this field. If you are not preparing a project, please give a brief outline of the purpose of your stay in Norway. Below this field, you should give a summary of your project. You can also attach a project description on separate pages, max. four pages. For those who do not intend to work on a project, please indicate clearly as to which courses you wish to follow.

6.  Please specify when, where and what kind of visit.

7.  Any scholarship from a Norwegian funding source, previously held, should be listed here with name of source and amount.

8.  Please state your knowledge of languages. If you have passed a test, please include a copy of the results in your application.

9.  A very brief description of your former academic visits outside your home country.

10.  Please list here any qualification relevant to this application.

11.  Any scholarships currently applied for should be listed here.

12.  Space for any additional information.

The International Scholarship Section (IS) cannot consider applications that are not endorsed by the official selection body in your home country. All applications must be evaluated and forwarded to the IS by the national scholarship authority in your home country.
