Leading businessman is appointed Chairman of Yeovil District Hospital

Peter Wyman CBE has been named as the new Chairman of Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Peter, who lives in Somerset, is a highly experienced individual who has held a range of senior posts throughout his career both in the private sector and as a Government adviser. In 2007 he was named as the fifth top financial power in the country with Ed Balls listed as number one.

Peter’s skills however go beyond accountancy and, in addition to holding a number of private sector business appointments he is currently Chairman of the Somerset Community Foundation and is the Treasurer and a member of Council of the University of Bath. He has been an international adviser to large commercial organisations He was President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and a senior partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and was awarded a CBE for services to the accountancy profession in 2006.

Peter said: “I am delighted to have been offered the Chairman’s role. I am incredibly impressed with Yeovil District Hospital and the people who work in it – they have made a big impression on me. Their iCARE ethos is not just a meaningless slogan – everyone I met lives it. The local community is very lucky to have such a hospital and I am really looking forward to playing my part.”

Chief Executive, Gavin Boyle said: “Peter will bring many qualities to his new role including substantial leadership skills and experience, a high degree of business acumen and a personal style that I am sure that staff at every level within the hospital will find engaging.

“I would just like to once again pay tribute to our current Chairman Angela Dupont and the fantastic contribution she has made to the hospital over the past 14 years.”

Peter will take on his new job in June.
