Yellow peaches are the main fruit until the blood plums and Tydemans.

Early apples start in the second week of January. Tydemans are a tangy apple unlike the sweeter gala which start early February but similar to the better known older variety Macintosh Early which is one of its parents.

From mid January there are Gravenstein apples which get better the longer they are left on the tree until early February when Gala apples start. There are many strains of Gala apples which only vary in the amount of red on the skin.

These are called "Royal Gala", "Imperial G", "Galaxy", "Buckeye" and whatever name the person patenting the particular strain chose. The colour not the flavour is different.

Akane apples will be ready for the open day but they are a variety that come and go very quickly and they have a light crop this year so we probably will only have enough for the open day weekend.

The Tydemans apples are heavy and there will still be plenty of them for the open day.

Blood plums in early and mid January are followed by the very sweet purple skinned, yellow fleshed Narrabeen plums named after the Sydney suburb from the days when it, along with suburbs such as Ryde, Epping and Gladesville were fruit growing districts.

Radiance and Ruby red plums follow in February but they are light so do not play them up too much.

Different varieties of yellow peaches are on right through to late February.

Jonathon, Delicious and Golden Delicious apples start in mid February followed by Fuji, Granny Smith and Pink Lady apples
