ST CADOC’S YOUTH CLUB
NEWSLETTER MAY 2014
Chairman’s Welcome
Welcome to 1st Newsletter of the St Cadoc’s Youth Club for 2014. We have had a great start to the year and have had various success this year. Our under 17 team reached the semi-final of the West regional cup. They also travelled to Barcelona over the Easter weekend to participate in the San Jamie cup and beat a Spanish team 2-I in the final to bring the trophy home.
Our under 12 teams travelled to Hagerson castle last weekend the 3rd and 4th May with 2 teams to play in a 9 aside tournament and acquitted themselves very well.
Our under 11 team are travelling to Arnhem in Holland to compete in their first tournament in Europe. The boys and the coaches are really looking forward to the trip and I’m sure you will join me in wishing them all the very best.
Our academy continues to grow in strength with 44 kids in our primary 1 age group and 55 in our primary 2 age group .All 4 aside and seven aside age groups are also growing in numbers and Quality. I would like to thank all the coaches and players for their continuing effort and commitment. and to all the parents who bear the cold winter morning and afternoon supporting the teams a big thank you to you all.
The biggest area of the club to grow this year was the Netball. We started the year with roughly 60 girl and are now at roughly 130. The reason I am unsure of the number is that it continues to grow weekly, which is testament to Helen Baillie and her coaches for the quality of the seasons they are running.
We have placed 5 of our young coaches through their coaching Qualification through the SQA which has enhance the Quality we now offer to the players with a total of 7 fully qualified coaches.
This year we affiliated to Netball Scotland and entered 4 teams in the Scottish cup. 2 teams at under 13 and 2 teams at under 15.This was a whole new experience for the club , players and coaches as we have never before played in a tournament of this size and Quality . The girls done remarkable well for a first attempt one of the under 15 teams reached the Quarter Finals and travelled to Perth to play ,unfortunately they were beaten but will learn from this and be better equipped for next year.
We now have around 550
Many thanks for all you help and continued support
Mark Thomson
FINANCIALS
At the parent year group meeting on Sunday 27th April we discussed the likely deficit for next season bearing in mind the various new costs we have undertaken through the New Eastwood High school lets and utilising a conservative assumption on what we expect to raise from fundraising we have provided below details on the expected deficit.
Income / £ / £
Projected income from fees / £46,000
Projected other fundraising (net of costs) / £11,000
£57,000
Expenditure
Training lets, playing lets, league fees / (£43,000)
Referee fees / (£6,000)
Equipment, strips, other gear / (£11,000)
(£60,000)
Net projected deficit / (£3,000)
CLUB FEES
As a result of the projected deficit amount we have agreed that we will the increase the club fees. To ensure our fees remain affordable we have carried out a comparison against other clubs fees and even with an increase we will remain one of the cheapest clubs in East Renfrewshire.
In order to continue to grow and develop the players in our club we feel that a small increase will provide the revenue that will be required to maintain the current and future expenditure.
The fees will increase for each year group will increase by £10 per session as detailed in the table overleaf.
Year Group / Current Fee
£ / Fee
August 2014 / Fee
January 2015
P1-P2 / £35 / £45 / £45
P3-P7 / £45 / £55 / £55
S1-S6 / £60 / £70 / £70
Netball / £25 / £35 / £35
Should this increase in fees cause any concerns for parents please contact Mark Thomson.
SFA MEETING
At a recent SFA meeting Mark reported that they have agreed to work with us with regards to potential grants and fundraising. Clubs like St Cadocs who have the Quality Mark will no longer qualify for reduced fees for coaches training. The SFA feel we have had sufficient incentive, and they now want clubs like us to work towards the SFA C-licence. Mark will be discussing this with the coaches in due course.
