Year End Payroll Checks

I am sure some of you are wondering why you have received a check or stub in the amount of .10 cents, .29 cent or even .01 cents. These payments were the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) effort to reconcile the books for year-end.

In years past, DAS would have carried individual payoff amounts forward into the next year if that amount were less that $1. In preparation for year-end, DAS thought it made sense to clear all outstanding balances to zero instead of $1. Their intent was to clear out all year-end balances owed to employees, and to eliminate the need for the system to hold and account for these balances throughout the next year.
