Year 9- Revision Checklist
Page numbers for each chapter can be found on textbook contents page. Pupils should revise all extra worksheets and booklets they have been given since September.
Ch 1 -Numbers and sequences- Pupils should be able to:
v Add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers,
v Use sign rules e.g. ++= +
v Find product of prime factors
v Square and cube numbers.
v Estimations
v Sequences- including finding missing terms and nth term
v Algebra- forming equations and solving problems.
· Chapter 2: Measures
- Use appropriate units to measure length, mass and capacity
- Know rough metric equivalents of imperial units
- Read and interpret scales on a range of measuring instruments
- Calculate the perimeter and area of a rectangle
- Calculate the area of a triangle
- Calculate the area of a parallelogram and a trapezium
· Chapter 3: Probability
- Use tree diagrams and sample space diagrams to record mutually exclusive outcomes
- Understand and use the probability scale from 0 to 1
- Find probabilities based on equally likely outcomes
- Know that if the probability of an event occurring is p, then the probability of it not occurring is 1 – p
- Estimate probabilities by collecting data from an experiment
- Compare experimental probabilities with theoretical probabilities
Ch 4- Fractions decimals and percentages- Pupils should be able to:
v Add, subtract, multiply and divide a fraction,
v Covert fractions to decimals and percentages and vice versa,
v Order fractions, decimals and percentages,
v Solve problems using your knowledge of fractions, decimals and percentages.
Ch5-Expressions and Formula- Pupils should be able to:
v Use letters and symbols to represent unknown numbers,
v All algebra rules- collecting like terms, multiplying and dividing
v Index notation/ powers
v Write equations using algebra.
Ch6-Measures
v All metric measurements,
v Find areas of compound shapes
v Be able to find area of rectangle and triangle
v Volume and surface areas of cuboids,
v Perimeter of basic shapes.
Ch7- Functions and graphs
v Be able to write functions
v Understand that x represents input and y output
v Form simple functions using algebra knowledge
v Use y= mx+c
v Complete table using function knowledge.
Ch8- Multiplicative Reasoning- Pupils should be able to:
v Write ratios for problems,
v Divide a quantity into two or more parts,
v Reduce a ratio to its simplest form.
Ch9- Transformations and Congruence- Pupils should be able to:
v Define and draw congruent shapes
v Transformations- Be able to transform, rotate and reflect shapes
v Mark all lines of symmetry on a given shape,
v Enlarge shapes such as rectangles and triangles. Know that enlargements require a centre of enlargement and a scale factor.
Ch10- Equations and Formulae
v Simplify expressions by collecting like terms,
v Multiply out brackets with algebraic terms,
v Substitute numbers into algebraic expressions,
