Dear Parent/Carer

Year 10 - Design & Technology: Resistant Materials

During the course of this year your son/daughter will produce a variety of items during their work in Design and Technology. The items will be made from wood, metal and plastic. The minimum cost of the materials they will require is £10.00.

We ask each parent to contribute a ‘one off’ amount of £10.00 towards the cost of the practical element of the curriculum for Year 10. The Governors direct resources from the school budget to make up the difference, provide additional materials, purchase new equipment and resources and service and maintain existing equipment.

As a department we are committed to helping our students design and make high quality products from a wide range of materials, using a variety of processes. We would be grateful if you could support us by forwarding the contribution with the attached reply slip to the school finance office as soon as possible (cheques made payable to Oaklands Catholic School). Alternatively, you can pay online. Unfortunately, if we do not receive payment for the items your child has manufactured they will remain the property of the School and will not be permitted to be taken home.

Those families who qualify for pupil premium funding under the free school meal criteria or have been in receipt of free school meals in the last six years, may be eligible to receive a subsidy.
