Tuition Rebateand Refund Policy
On the basis oftheFederalregulationsgoverningthereturn ofFederalStudentAid(TitleIV)fundsforwithdrawnstudents,thefollowingrulesapplyto therebateand refundoftuition:
1.Forpurposesofdeterminingthe refund ofFederalStudentAidfunds,anystudentwhowithdrawsfromYPA foranyreason duringthefirst60%ofthetermwillbesubjectto apro rataschedulewhichwillbe usedto determinetheamountofTitle IVfundsa studenthas earnedatthetime ofwithdrawal. Astudentwhowithdrawsafterthe 60%pointhasearned100%oftheTitleIVfunds.In2017-2018, thelastdaysforrefundingFederalStudentAidfundswillbeOctober27, 2017(Year1),November3, 2017(Year2)orOctober27, 2017(Year3)in thefalltermandMay19,2018(Year1)or June15, 2018(Year2)in thespringterm.
2.Forpurposesofdeterminingthe refund ofinstitutionalaidfundsandforstudentswhohave notreceivedfinancialaid:
a.100%oftuitionwillberebatedforwithdrawalswhichoccuronorbeforetheend ofthefirst10%ofthe term:September8,2017(Year1),September15,2017(Year2)orSeptember15,2017(Year3)inthefalltermand January26, 2018(Year1)orJanuary26, 2018 (Year2)in thespringterm.
b.A rebateofone-half(50%)oftuitionwillbegranted forwithdrawalswhichoccurafterthefirst10%buton or beforethelastdayofthefirstquarteroftheterm:September22,2017(Year1), October6,2017(Year2)orOctober 6, 2017(Year3)in thefalltermandFebruary23, 2018(Year1)orMarch23, 2018(Year2)in thespringterm.
c.A rebateofone-quarter(25%)oftuitionwillbe grantedforwithdrawalswhichoccurafterthefirstquarterofatermbuton orbeforethedayofMidterm:October20,2017(Year1),November 3,2017(Year2)orNovember 3, 2017(Year3)inthefalltermand April13,2018(Year1)orMay11, 2018(Year2)inthe springterm.
d.Studentswhowithdraw foranyreasonafterMidtermwillnotreceive arebateofanyportionof tuition.
3.Thedeathofastudentshallcancelchargesfortuition as ofthedateofdeathand theBursarwilladjustthetuition on a proratabasis.
4.Ifthe studenthasreceivedstudentloansorother forms offinancialaid,fundswillbereturned intheorderprescribed byFederalregulations;namely,firsttoFederalDirectUnsubsidizedLoans,ifany;thentoFederalPerkinsLoans;FederalDirectGraduatePLUS Loans;nexttoanyotherFederal,State,privateorinstitutionalscholarshipsandloans;andfinally, anyremainingbalancetothestudent.
5.Recipientsof Federaland/orinstitutionalloanswhowithdraw arerequired tohave anExitInterview beforeleavingYale. StudentsleavingYalereceiveinstructionsoncompletingthisprocess fromYale StudentFinancialServices.
