CAMP PARENTS—ENJOY A DAY AT CAMP!

The one thing camp could not function without are volunteers! There are lots of ways for volunteers to be involved in camp. The most visible, of course, are our teen counselors—BUT, there are volunteers who do important behind-the-scenes jobs that we just couldn’t live without! These jobs include class instructors, camp nurses, and field trip chaperones. Why sit behind a desk all day? Come hang out with us and enjoy the Y-HIP Sand & Sea Camp experience your child(ren) will talk about the entire car ride home!!!!!

Camp Nurses!

RN, CMT, LCN, EMT are all OK. We need camp nurses for the 2 days of camping. You can volunteer for one day. You must be able to administer medications and be First Aid/CPR certified. See camp application for dates of camp.

Camp Class Instructors!

Share your skills from your favorite hobby or your profession. The possibilities are endless! Whether you are a skilled quilter by night or a physics teacher by day, we would love to have you share your knowledge with our campers!

Chaperones!

Sometimes there are campers who simply cannot go to camp or back home because they don’t have a ride! We need chaperones who are able to pick campers up and drop them off at a designated place. Chaperones are welcomed to participate in the camping trip, so feel free to bring your bathing suit, fishing pole, or just about anything that rocks your boat! J

About Y-HIP

Let me take the time to explain what Y-HIP is. It is a group that stands for Young Hearing Impaired People. This group was started in order to provide a place for the young hearing impaired (which includes the deaf and the hard of hearing) to meet people, make friends, and to grow and develop with their own kind. As Y-HIP grew and became more educated, we recognized the needs of our own. Not only do the Young Hearing Impaired People need a place to socialize and have fun, but we also need to be active in helping others, which is a part of what makes people so great.

Not only this, but we recognize the need to grow in an atmosphere of helping each other, growing up together, learning to be leaders, and having fun.

Y-HIP helps the Young Hearing Impaired People by providing leadership opportunities, informing the public on who we are and what we need, providing a place for the young hearing impaired people to meet others who go through the very same experiences and that can relate, and doing all of this in a fun way, so that we all have a good time!

So far for the summer we have planned fundraisers, pool parties, camping trip, and many other activities. We welcome people wanting to volunteer, becoming a member, or wanting to give ideas. We are constantly expanding to areas that does not provide similar services, so please, if you would like to see Y-HIP active in your area, email Sam Bynum at . Welcome to Y-HIP and we hope to see you at one of the socials!
