Srdjan Koljevic (1966) screenwriter and director, graduated in screenwriting and playwriting at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, Belgrade, Serbia.

He is a professor of screenwriting at Faculty of Dramatic Arts, Belgrade, Serbia, and Faculty of Dramatic Arts, Cetinje, Montenegro.

Srdjan Koljevic wrote or co-wrote 14 feature films, all of them national box office hits,and awarded internationally – amongst which the film that he also directed “Red Coloured Grey Truck”(2004; Serbian-German-Slovenian co-production) earned him the widest recognition of international audience, festivals and critics.

As a screenwriter he also collaborated on two Greek films, and one Slovenian film.

Among the recent films that he wrote is“The Trap” (2007; Serbian-German-Hungarian co-production) which premiered on Berlinale, andwas shortlisted among 9 nominated Foreign language films for Oscars.

The Woman With a Broken Nose” (2010, also a Serbian-German co-production), his second film as a director, was awarded and distributed in Switzerland, Germany and Spain.

The film that he wrote, “Circles”, was awarded at the World Competition Program of Sundance Film Festival, 2013.

In 2014 he completed his third feature film as a director – “The Man Who Defended Gavrilo Princip” (2014), and a TV series under the same title.

»Premeditated Murder«, (1996, collaborator on the script, directed by Gorčin Stojanović); received numerous awards including:

  • the prize for Best Script at the National Script Festival, Vrnjačka banja, 1996
  • the Yugoslav Film Academy Award for the best script;
  • Grand Prix Alpe Adria, (Trieste, Italy); Grand Prix Sochi, (Russia)
  • many audience and FIPRESCI awards...
  • Screened in Panorama at the Berlin Film Festival.

»The Hornet« (1998, co-writer with Z. Popović, directed by Gorčin Stojanović); shown at numerous international festivals; acquired world TV distribution; awarded at the National Film Script Festival.

»Sky Hook« (2000, co-writer with Djordje Milosavljević, directed by Ljubiša Samardžić);

  • premiered in Competition at the Berlin Film Festival;
  • international prizes: e.g. at the Festival of Montpellier, (Montpellier Audience Award) and Palm Springs (Audience Award);
  • Best Screenplay Award at the National Screenplay Festival.
  • selected by Yugoslav Film Academy as the national nominee for the Oscar Awards.

»Normal People« (2001, co-writer with director Oleg Novković); the film was co-produced by Komuna (Serbia), ORB (Germany), and Pandora (Germany);

  • awarded at the National Film Script Festival, Vrnjačka Banja
  • screened at various international festivals (Mannheim, Moscow...).

»Natasha« (2001, directed by Ljubiša Samardžić); the film was awarded at various national and international festivals (Black Sea Grand Prix, Pula Film Festival).

»Red Coloured Grey Truck« (2004, writer and director). It has received 11 international awards, and 13 national awards. International:

Srdjan Koljević is one of the most produced and awarded screenwriters in the region of former Yugoslavia since his screenwriting debut in 1993.
