PART 2 – PRODUCT

2.1MANUFACTURER

  1. BRD Noise and Vibration Control, Inc., PO Box 127, 112 Fairview Avenue, Wind Gap, PA, 18091, Phone: (610) 863-6300, Fax: (610) 863-4230, E-mail: , Website:
  2. Alternates must be submitted and approved 10 days prior to project bid date as “or equal” compliant.

2.2MATERIALS

A.HUSHCORE™ ULTIMATE™System Enclosure:

1)HUSH WALL™ AcousticalMetal Panel System, Part Number HG-410, Acoustical MetalPanels shall be pre-fabricated, sectional, modular and designed for easy and accurate assembly and disassembly. The acoustical panels and components are designed to completely surround an air cooled chiller on four sides. The panels shall be designed in a structural steel frame complete with access doors, accessories, and trim components.

2)HUSH WALL™ HG-410 Metal Acoustical Panels shall be constructed with a 16 gauge solid galvanized steel outer shell, acoustical glass fiber insulation fill, and a 22 gauge perforated galvanized inner shell. The panels and components shall not be susceptible to damage due to extended exposure to vibration, air temperature, UV rays or humidity with passage of time.

3)HUSH DUCT™ model HD-755 galvanized steel acoustical louver/silencer modulesshall be utilized for needed air intake and discharge flow. HUSH DUCTS™shall be used for meeting chiller system pressure loss requirements without compromising the HUSH WALL™ sound transmission loss performance.

4)The ULTIMATE™ System Enclosure shall have a full roof with separate and segregated baffled openings for condenser fan air intake and discharge.

2.3INSTALLATION

  1. The installation of the ULTIMATE™ System Enclosure shall be performed by the acoustical manufacturer in order to assure turnkey responsibility and accountability for performance and equipment compatibility.
  2. The HVAC contractor shall be responsible for all foundation work and coordinate with the acoustical supplier.
  3. ENGINEERING
  1. The final approved drawings shall be PE stamped before release by a registered engineer in the state of [ ] for wind load code compliance.
  2. Static and dynamic load calculations for all column tie in points to structure or foundation shall be provided for use by the structural engineer of record.
  3. An acoustical and aerodynamic analysis shall be provided to document competency for compliance with the performance requirements of this specification.
  4. The acoustical analysis shall be based on AHRI-370 baseline octave band sound power levels of the chiller and shall show octave band performance of the enclosure, appropriate spreading loss reductions and site specific corrections for directionality, reflectivity of nearby building wall planes, etc.
  5. Free field spherical spreading loss calculations of property line dBA levels are not acceptable.
  6. Site readings post start-up performed by a qualified consultant shall be supplied by the chiller manufacturer.
  7. The chiller manufacturer’s qualified field technician shall monitor operation of the chiller during the test to determine load and operational conditions.

2.5 ACOUSTICAL PERFORMANCE

A.The HUSHCORE™ ULTIMATE™ System shall reduce the chiller noise to a level of [ ] dBA at the nearest property line [ ] ft. away.

  1. The acoustical treatment shall attain compliance with daytime and nighttime maximum allowable noise levels for ordinance [ ].
  2. This specification is a minimum design required to be supplied by all compliant chiller bidders. If the chiller sound levels exceed AHRI-370 baseline levels of the Basis of Design chillers, the chiller manufacturer shall be responsible for supplying any additional sound attenuation devices necessary to achieve the above property line criteria.
  3. The chiller manufacturer shall provide sound testing by a qualified consultant after start-up to confirm compliance with required acoustical performance.

2.6 AERODYNAMIC PERFORMANCE

A. Total system pressure loss for intake and condenser fan discharge HUSH DUCT™baffles shall meet the chiller manufacturer’s recommended guideline.
