  • Students completing the test early will begin reading Chapter 22.

  • Understand the objectives of the next common assessment.
  • Formulate the thesis for the next common assessment.
  • Complete the persuasion map for the next common assessment.

  • Students will review the instructions and materials for the first common assessment, focusing on the choice of two arguments they will use for a thesis. While reviewing the primary source documents they have annotated that support most strongly the two arguments from which they must choose.
  • After reviewing their annotations of the primary source documents, students will determine which of the two arguments they will chose as the basis for their common assessment thesis.
  • ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITY: Students will use the slide rule strategy to tell each other which argument they have chosen and why they chose it.
  • HOMEWORK: Students will complete the persuasion map to outline their common assessment for instructor review and approval tomorrow.

WEDNESDAY

  • Begin the Second Common Assessment.

  • Students who have not completed them will present their persuasion maps to the instructor for approval.
  • ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITY: Students will work with a partner to make sure that all elements of the persuasion map have been completed.
  • After persuasion maps have been reviewed by a partner to insure all elements are completed, they will then be submitted to the instructor for signed approval.
  • Students will begin the second common assessment using the classroom Chrome Books.

THURSDAY

  • Complete the Second Common Assessment

  • Using the classroom Chrome Books, students will complete the second common assessment. Upon completion students will place the common assessment in the SOCIAL STUDIES FOLDER.
  • Each student will place her/his rubric (with her/his name on it) in the tray for incoming assignments so Mr. Hanson will (A) know that a common assessment from that student needs to be graded, and (B) the student can learn the grade which will be placed on the rubric and returned to the student’s folder.
