Anxiety & Stress Management Therapy Group
Do you have anxiety attacks?Are you overwhelmed with stress? Do you experience uncontrollable worrying? Do you get overly anxious in social situations? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, the anxiety and stress management group may be for you. The goal of this group is to help you learn skills that will be useful throughout life by increasing awareness of your own personal reactions to stressors, teaching specific anxiety management techniques, practicing breathing and relaxation exercises, and providing a place for support. This group meets for 6 weeks and a pre-groupscreening is required in order to participate.

These groups tend to focus on relationships, intimacy, boundaries, self-awareness and other components of interpersonal process. These groups are typically open to both undergraduate and graduate students. Specific focus is sometimes determined by group needs. These groups are designed to help group members learn to deal with a variety of concerns involving feelings of depression and anxiety, resolving relationship issues, and other personal concerns.

Do you find yourself worrying about the right thing to say when you interact with your peers? Are you having trouble maintaining conversations? This group is designed to help you learn ways to connect with others and gain tools to create more satisfying social relationships. We strive to provide an environment that is both supportive and challenging to help members achieve their personal goals.

High Anxiety: When Panic Attacks Therapy Group
This is a group that focuses on increasing ability to deal with anxiety during high-stress situations such as public speaking, test-taking, and romantic relationships, among others. You are welcome to join us if: Fear has affected your ability to perform well; you are afraid of experiencing symptoms of anxiety; you avoid anxiety-producing situations to the max; you have felt helpless or hopeless in dealing with your anxiety.

Women’s Experiential Therapy Group
Come explore, connect with other women learn about yourself. This supportive group will allow you to explore relationship challenges, communication issues, gender role expectations overall self-care. This group will help you develop positive social interactions heal from past experiences as needed.

Relaxation Group
Group Relaxation Classes: Do you know what feeling relaxed truly feels like? Come and join this drop-in group to practice weekly relaxation skills and take them with you for any other time you might need them. Open to all FAU students. LGBTQ Support Group
Have you ever wanted a safe space to explore and talk with others about the challenges and joys of being lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, or asexual? If so this group is an opportunity for you to do just that. We will meet on a weekly basis in a confidential and affirming group to talk, connect with each other, and offer emotional support. We will explore themes that are relevant to your life such as relationships with family, friends, and partners, coming out, being out, identity, and ways to embrace all of who you are. Lastly, this group is open to other topics (e.g. depression, anxiety, etc.) not related to one’s sexual orientation.

Peace with Food and Body Group
Join together with others to explore issues around food, dieting, weight, body image, and self-esteem. In this small therapy group you will be able to share your struggles with others who relate to issues with food and body, and learn to better understand yourself. This group will help you to experience self and body in a new way.

Grief and Loss Group
After the loss of a loved one, life is never the same. In a supportive group setting, participants will have the opportunity to acknowledge change and integrate loss with healthful grief, mourning, and healing. Members may share experiences with others who have suffered a death and reduce their isolation, build upon each others’ strengths, learn ways to better cope, and regain a sense of peace and empowerment.
