Training of Teachers and Teacher Educators in Educational Audio Script writing

February, 28 to March 4, 2011

Objectives:

1.  To train teachers and teacher educators in educational audio script writing.

2.  To develop good quality audio scripts for audio production at CIET and SIETs.

3.  To create a database of good audio script writers from among the participants.

Prerequisites

Ø  Teachers and teacher educators must have interest in writing and developing audio materials for children and teachers.

Ø  Participants must be creative writers.

Course Objectives

The participants will be able to

  • Write a good educational audio/ radio script.
  • Critically analyse an educational audio script.
  • Critically analyse an educational audio programme.
  • Integrate audio programmes in day-to-day teaching/training.

Participants

About Two Hundred (200) School Teachers and Teacher Educators (from Schools, DIETs, SCERT, CTE/IASEs, University Depts.) from 10 cities.

Participants are expected to send the duly filled in proforma to the Coordinator of the Workshop at CIET at least one week before the workshop. Online Group will be created for these 20 participants through which all the resources as well as asynchronous interactions will be initiated and continued.

These participants are considered as master trainers and their services may be used for organising similar training for other teachers of the state/UT.

Resource Persons

The workshop sessions and other activities will be guided by professionals in the field. Prof. Vasudha Kamat, Joint Director, CIET; Prof. Chandra Bhushan, Former Professor and Head DEPCREST, CIET; Mr. Prabhu Dayal Khattar, Former Head, Radio Division, CIET; Dr. R.Sreedher, Director, CEMCA-COL, New Delhi; Sh. Laxmishankar Bajbayee, Station Director-All India Radio (AIR), Delhi; Prof. Prasanna Hulikiavi, Pune Maharashtra; Dr. Kamini Bhatnagar, Head, Audio Production Division, CIET; Ms. Shaheena Khan, All India Radio (AIR); Ms. Ratnabali Mitra, All India Radio (AIR); Dr. Anup Rajput, Head, MRED, CIET; Mr. Ajit Horo, Audio producer-Grade-I, CIET will participate as Resource Persons.

Venue at 11 Locations (States/UTs) in Hindi speaking states has been identified:

Pre Workshop Activities

As a part of pre-workshop activities Yahoo Group is created for the participants and Resource Persons. They are all invited to join the groups: http://in.groups.yahoo.com/group/ERadio_ScriptWriters_CIET_MAR2011/

Resources are posted on these groups so that participants get to know each other as well as Resource Persons and also study the resource material posted. A blog is also created for more asynchronous interaction among the resource person and participants.

Workshop methodology

This workshop is conducted through video conferencing using EDUSAT/INSAT network of CIET-NCERT. There will be live presentations by the Resource persons which also includes interaction/ discussions with participants. Playback of suitable audio video programmes will also be made. As seen from the Time table below, out of 20 business sessions 12 i.e. 60% are allotted for group activities. Active participation of all the participants is solicited.

Post Workshop Activities

The workshop hopefully shall trigger motivation among participants to audio programmes in School education and also in Teacher professional development. Participants will be assessed in following manner. Certificate of successful participation (as master trainers) will be issued by CIET, NCERT on completion of all tasks.

Evaluation/Assessment Scheme

1. Objective Test (Multiple Choice Questions) 25%

2. Submission of the following (within 2 weeks) 75%

a.  One audio script of 5-10 minutes duration

b.  One radio spot of 1 to 2 minutes duration by each participants on RTE
