Citing Your Sources: Please keep track of your sources throughout the entire research process. Use your journal and / or a graphic organizer. Track your sources. Perhaps you use colors to track. For example, notes highlighted in yellow came from the source also highlighted in yellow on your Works Cited page. Notes highlighted in orange came from the source also highlighted in orange on your Works Cited page, and so on. Another example could be to use colored Post-Its to track your notes and sources. This is important to do, because it will help you when you use in-text citations as you draft your essay. Mrs. T. modeled this in class on 1/26 when we began the research process.

Library Online Databases:

Use these databasesinsteadof searching the Internet for information.They're reliable, accurate, and are designed for middle school students.They will help you get your work done faster!If you're using a computer at school, you will not need a password for most of these databases. To access the databases at home, see Mr. Dahlin for a list of passwords!

In addition to Maywood's online databases, you also have access to an amazing number of databases and other resources provided by the King County Library System. Your Maywood student ID now gives you free access to all of the King County Library System's online information and tools! Your KCLS student account number is 411 followed by your seven-digit Maywood student ID number (with no dashes or spaces). Your PIN number is the last four digits of your Maywood student ID number. You can begin using your student account now at Most can be used at Maywood without a password!

Using Citation Machine:

STEP ONE: Visit to generate your citations.

STEP TWO: Copy & Paste URL into Citation Machine. Select ‘MLA’ and ‘Website’. Then, select ‘Search Websites.

STEP THREE: Search – Select – Final Step – Create Citation – Copy and paste this citation into your Works Cited page.

STEP FOUR: In Word, start your Works Cited Page. Be sure you are using your Office 365 account.
