“Working with Voices: An Introduction to the Hearing Voices Approach”

This training will be an introduction to understanding and working with the voice hearing experience. In addition to learning about hearing voices andhow to relate to the voice hearing experience, this training will raise your consciousness. It is geared toward an audience of people in recovery, especially voice hearers, and their supporters and allies—clinicians, certified peer specialists, residential staff, recovery coaches, and families, Learn how to create a culture of awareness and support for voice hearing.

This two-day course is designed as a follow-up day to the Working with Voices Introductory training. This training will support you in developing effective ways of working with voice hearers, and using those strategies to support people who hear voices in taking charge of their experiences. This training will be helpful to recovery coaches, peer supporters, clinicians, rehabilitation specialists, residential providers, voice hearers, people in recovery, families and supporters. It will focus on “connection” strategies – including demonstration and practice. How can the helper reach out? How do we create a “safe” environment?

Learn more about the relationship between trauma and voice hearing.Gain more confidence and awareness in working with voices.Learn about the voice dialoguing approach and how to support someone in using the “Working with Voices Workbook.” An introduction to the process of voice profiling will be provided. We will discuss how to include and integrate what you’ve learned about hearing voices in work at your agency. Learn about the Hearing Voices Support Groups in MontgomeryCounty. Participants must have attended a previous introductory presentation by Ron Coleman or Berta Britz.

PCB, NBCC, CPRP credits pending for these trainings. Montgomery Co. Dept. of BH is an NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider and may offer NBCC approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements.
