Job Purpose: / To increase the level of funding received from major donors in the UK by developing and maintaining relationships with existing supporters and proactively developing major support from key prospects.
Main duties &
Responsibilities: / Prospecting and Networking
•To support and develop key relationships with a portfolio of major donor prospects, producing individual donor pipelines, cultivation and solicitation plans with a view to maximise income from this group and achieve agreed income targets.
•To support the deliveryof engagement and networking opportunities for prospect donors (including fundraising and cultivation events and briefings).
•To identify new prospect donors through the database, existing networks and networking events and develop prospect pipelines to cultivate new donors.
•To produce creative and innovative proposals, materials and reports to bring new major donors to Concern and retain existing supporters.
Donor Cultivation and Stewardship
•To support the day to day management of the Major Donor Mid-Level Product.
•To support the delivery of a donor communications strategy for Mid-level donors and identify engagement opportunities for donors.
•To manage all high value appeals (both development and emergencies) including copy generation, data selection, thank you letters and updates.
•To support Major Donor Events, including the annual party,and supporter briefing events
•To be the key liaison and manage all corporate supporter engagement for the London Triathlon
General Activities
•To maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all existing and prospective major donors which conform to the Data Protection Act and support the process of moves management.
•To support departmental donor reporting, working with the data analyst to ensure that all relevant reports are prepared.
•To manage the feeder programme, upgrading or downgrading donors as appropriate, and in conjunction with the Individual Giving Manager and Major Donor and Corporate Manager.
•To ensure the supporter services team in Belfast are kept up to date with all major donor activity in the UK that may affect their workload.
•To work with the major donor team internationally sharing skills, knowledge, and information on donors and engagement ideas.
•To actively develop knowledge and understanding of Concern’s overseas projects, working with the overseas teams to ensure up-to-date information is passed on.
•To support the delivery of monthly and annual budgets and targets set out with your line manager in addition to project specific targets.
•To maintain an up to date understanding of major donor fundraising and philanthropy in the UK and internationally in addition to keeping abreast with news in the sector.
Person specification: / ESSENTIAL
• Excellent communication, networking and interpersonal skills with experience of engaging with high net-worth individuals and senior executives
• Experience of managing all aspects of direct mail appeals including data manipulation and data analysis.
• Proven experience of organising events.
• Experience of managing a portfolio of mid-level donors.
• Experience of preparing fundraising plans, income and expenditure budgets.
• Excellent written skills and experience of producing a range of communications and presentations to cultivate and steward high value donors.
• Experience of using major donor and corporate fundraising research tools and mechanisms
• Excellent organization, time management skills and ability to work to multiple deadlines.
• Driven, with a positive outlook and ability to tackle challenges head on.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Experience using contact management databases, preferably ThankQ.
• Strong team player and a flexibility to take on additional ad hoc tasks.
• A thorough understanding of the principles and practice of major donor fundraising.
• Good knowledge of Charity legislation and the third sector in general.
• Must be flexible and be able to work occasional evenings and weekends.
DESIRABLE
• Educated to degree level, or equivalent experience
• Good business acumen
• Prior experience in international development.
• Experience of managing major donor cultivationevents.
