Job Description:
PT Adult Education Math Instructor (grade levels 9-12)
Integrated Education and Training–Danvers Campus
4 hours/week, non-benefited, grant-funded position 24 weeks
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Integrated Education and Training program is a combination of HiSET or Accuplacer preparation with a concurrent Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course. The goals of the IET program are to support adult learners with career related goals and to strengthen their preparation for further employment, education, and training. Contextualization of curriculum will deliver academic subjects within a career context in collaboration with the CNA Nurse Instructor.
Instructors will need to be able to:
  1. Work collaboratively in a team-teaching environment to incorporate lessons from Contextualized Curriculum for Developmental and Adult Basic Education into lesson planning.
  2. Develop lesson plans and teaching strategies that accelerate accomplishment of student learning goals.
  3. Provide direct classroom instruction for two hours per week, documentation of weekly lesson plans, and ongoing collaboration with the CNA Nurse Instructor and HiSET Instructor
  4. Create differentiated curriculum to cover a range of student learning needs, including students preparing for the HiSET exam and those with high school credentials seeking higher education or career training.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Director of the Adult Learning Center
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructional Activities
  1. Prepares and delivers group lessons for class math instruction
  2. Tailors lessons to the specific learning needs of the class and establishes an individualized learning plan for each student.
  3. Individualizes instruction based upon students’ prior knowledge, learning styles and performance.
  4. As appropriate, incorporates technology into group and/or individualized curriculum.
  5. Evaluates student progress.
  6. In consultation with the Coordinator, establishes a protocol for incorporating new students into class.
Counseling
  1. For matters that require in-depth attention, refers students to other college resources such as IET Coordinator/Lead Coach or ALC Director
Administrative
  1. Communicates with Adult Learning Center Director as needed.
Professional Development
  1. Attends mandatory training to develop familiarity and expertise with MCCWDTA contextualized curriculum.
  2. Attends in-house staff meetings and shares ideas, resources as appropriate.
Requirements:
  • Master’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience teaching adult learners.
  • Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated success teaching to various learning styles.

Additional Information:
SALARY: $29.12 per hour, non-benefited, grant-funded position
