FOR ALL: Teachers and Support Staff

The Science Fair will be held in the library on Wednesday, April 22, 2009. During 1st and 2nd period the projects will be judged. Periods 3 to 7 will be the viewing. 8th period will be used to clear the library. We are asking that all teachers sign up for one 15 minute slot so they and their students may view the projects. There is a cap of 5 teachers per 15 minute time slot to prevent overcrowding in the library. SCIENCE DEPT.

TEACHERS: SAT10 packets will be available at the Counseling Center on Tuesday, 4/21/09, during the morning periods and on Wednesday, 4/22/09, at the Library from 0730 to 0815, during the New Teacher SAT10 Training. All attending the training must have their respective SAT10 packets.

STAFF: Please see any of the counselors for your SAT10 assignment by Wednesday, 4/22/09.

PRACTICE RUN. The schedule for the practice run this week will be announced by Mr. Fullo. Please check your boxes for updates and read the school bulletin for Thursday, 4/23/9. All teacher transfer requests must be made in writing and submitted to the principal no later than May 11, 2009. Note a transfer request form needs to be filled out as well.

Guam is hosting the annual-28th Pacific Islands Bilingual-Bicultural Association International conference. “Invigorating the Languages and Cultures of the Pacific is this year’s theme. The conference dates are June 22-25, 2009. The conference will be held at College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Guam and one day will be held at the Merlyun Cook School in Malesso. This year's 31st Guam Annual Island Wide Science Fair will be held on Sat. 5/9/09, 8am-4pm with set up Friday, 5/08/09 5pm-7pm at the UOG Science Building. All participants must submit entry forms by Thursday, April 30, 2009. Complete entry forms are to be turned into the Governor's Office in Adelup at the Central Files Office. Interested persons should read the entirety of the information sheets given to the main office and to all Science Teachers. 2009 Crime Victims Rights Week, Child Abuse Prevention Month, and Sexual Assault Awareness Month Public Awareness Poster Campaign for middle and high school students is right around the corner. The them for the poster campaign is “Kuentos Put Abuso, Chogue Aksiona,” or “Speak Out Against Abuse, Take Action.” All poster entries are due by Wednesday, April 22, 2009 to the Office of the Attorney General, Attn: Eric Palacios

ALL copy requests must be made 24 hours in advance. A designated box is in the main office. Please fill out the photo copy request form, INCLUDE YOUR NAME, clip it to your originals and place in the request box. (Paper will not be issued by the Business Office.) All photo copying will be made by the staff/admin. Once copying is made, copies will be placed in your box.

Every Wednesday will be reserved for Skills testing day to prepare for the SAT10. The Content Representatives will provide a set of skills per grade level/subject area in accordance with the 2008 item analysis. Please ensure these priority skills are taught on Wednesdays as well as test taking strategies critical to their success in the SAT10. Administrators will reserve that day for informal observations.

Guam Broadcasting Services, Inc. aka: FM104.3 is featuring “Guam’s Top Youth Bands/Groups in a Battle of the Bands Concert.” Winners will be chosen by their originality, appearance, stage presence and overall sound quality. Winners will be chosen from each of the three categories: Middle Schools, High Schools and Youth Bands and all winners will be given a monetary cash prize for their school’s music department. Attention Students: It is time to gear up for the 19th Annual Youth for Youth Conference. The three (3) day conference (April 25-27, Sat/Sun/Mon) is for teens. Goals for the conference are 1) use powerful influence to turn peer pressure from negative to positive, 2) teach effective leadership and goal setting and 3) teach responsibility: say NO to drugs, alcohol, tobacco and violence. Attention 8th Graders: “Let the Dream Begin” 8th Grade Banquet and Ball will be held on April 25, 2009 at the Onward Beach Resort’s Oasis Ballroom from 5:30pm-10:30pm. Tickets are now on sale for $28 (per single) and $50 (per couple). Before purchasing, please pick up the rules and regulations forms from the following teachers: 8A – Mr. Blas, 8B –Mr. Chargualaf, and 8C – Ms. Pama. Tickets may be purchased in rooms10 or 22.
