People, Planet, Promotion!

Peace, Love & Planet, Sustainable Farmington Hills, and Farmington Hills Special Services are challenging Farmington Public School students to give their best "Eco-Pitch."

Student-led initiatives can make a BIG IMPACT and help solve real-world problems. Peace, Love & Planet, Sustainable Farmington Hills, and Farmington Hills Special Services are happy to support meaningful projects that provide comprehensive solutions to the issues facing our community and our planet, and also engage others to take action.

The Eco-Pitch is challenging FPS students to come up with practical, innovative, and streamlined solutions that will improve energy-saving, recycling and waste reduction efforts at their schools.

PEOPLE: Your project should have a positive impact on people and the community at large.

PLANET: Your project should be based around decreasing the environmental impact your school has on the natural environment.

PROMOTION: Your project should utilize engagement tools to encourage others to replicate your efforts and promote the core values of community vitality and environmental integrity.

The Top 10 applicants will be chosento give their Eco-Pitch at the Fifth Annual Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 22, 2017 in front of a panel of judges. Four grant winners will be chosen at the event and will receive $500 to kickstart their project.

To improve economic viability, community vitality and environmental sustainability of the Greater Farmington Area to support a sustainable future for the community as a whole.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF GRANT

Applicants may receive guidance from adults/advisors; however, the grant must be completed by the student(s) since we believe this is a valuable process for professional development and project experience. If the applicant is under the age of 10, an adult may submit application with student.

This award may not be used for parties, dinners, awards and recognition (i.e. t-shirts, medals). Never should this grant be used for professional services (i.e. lawyers, salaries). Special exceptions should be requested in application with rational reasoning.

Individuals and teams must be ready to present their Eco-Pitch live in front of a panel of judges at the Farmington Hills Earth Day Celebration April 22, 2107. Finalists will be contacted with more details.

Peace, Love & Planet, Sustainable Farmington Hills, and Farmington Hills Special Services will offer four $500 grants for projects that demonstrate measurable outcomes. Projects must be approved by the school’s principal. They can sign and submit via email. We will award up to $2,000 in grants based on qualifying proposals.
