Word 4–Report Activity 1

1.Open the document titled Word 4Report Activity 1 Textfrom my website under forms. Save it to your own drive as “per#lastfirstReport Activity 1” in your Word 3 folder (Create one in your Word folder if you don’t have one).

2. Go to the Reference Tab and change the report format to MLA.

3.Insert text using the Insert Object feature. Place your insertion point on the line below the title “Fewer People Miss Flights” use the Insert Object icon to insert text from a file on the shared drive called Missing Fewer Flights. Hint: Insert Tab> Object> Text from file (adjust alignment and paragraphs to match the other text in the document (take of bold and tabs and extra space after the paragraph).

4.Select the entire paper & double space (Ctrl A)- Change the font for the whole document to Times New Roman size 12. Adjust spacing so above and below paragraphs and headings is only a double space.

5.Go to the top of the document (Ctrl + home), press enter to create a blank line at the top of the document. Change alignment to center and enter the following title: Airport Security Smart Scanner

6.Click at the beginning of the Title and insert a page break using the Page Layout Tab, Breaks, Next Page

a.Type Airport Security Smart Scanner for the title, press enter

b.Type your first and last name then press enter

c.Type Northridge High School then press enter

d.Type your teacher’s name then press enter

e.Insert the current date in long date format (3rd date in the list)

f.Center the text vertically and horizontally and make sure it is double spaced

Vertical centering( Page Layout tab, Page Setup dialog box, Layout tab, Page group-make sure to apply to the section, not the whole document)

7.Make formatting changes to the report as follow (you can look at the KEY for help)

a.Assign Heading 1 style to all headings (Fewer People Miss Fights, Airport Restaurants Lose Money,Airlines will Lose Profit on Checked Baggage, Conclusion)

b.Assign Heading 2 style to all subtitles (Maximizing positive impacts, Minimizing negative impacts(two times-different paragraphs)

c.Indent all paragraphs (Tab)

8. Insert the Future Wheel image found in the shared drive

a.Place your insertion point to the left of the title Conclusion

b.Insert the Future Wheel image from the shared driveHint: Insert> picture

c.Wrap text using the Square option

e.Change the height of the graphic to 5.5 inches

d.Choose the picture style Drop Shadow Rectangle (if the quick styles are not available, convert your document).

f.Place the image so that it is horizontally centered above the title Conclusion (which will be on the next page

9.Prepare document properties. The title is Activity 1 Security.

10.Go to the Reference tab> Citations & Bibliography group> Manage Sources> New and add the following sources

11.Insert in-text Citations. In-text citations are enclosed in parenthesis and followed by a period. Example: (Jessep 2).

Hint: Reference tab> Citations & Bibliography group> Insert Citation

  1. In the first paragraph, before the period, after the quotes …scattered light” add the reference “What is Ramon Spectroscopy?”.
  1. At the end of the first paragraph, last line, before the period, add the Mone reference.

12. After the last paragraph in the report insert a manual page break to create a new page (Ctrl + Enter)

13. Create a Works Cited list

a.At the top of the new page you inserted, key Works Cited in initial caps and centered.

b.Enter down 1 time and change the alignment to left.

c.Click the Reference Tab

d.Click the Bibliography button

e.Click insert bibliography (at the bottom of the list)

f.Select all the sources and change the line spacing to double. (0pt before and 0pt after)

14.Change the font to Times New Roman size 12

15.Add a page number to top right side of the page with your last name before the number. (Insert, page number, top of page, Plain Number 3. Click before it and type your last name with a space between).

16.Save-Check with the key below-make any necessary changes. RE-save.

17.Save as a PDF and upload both the Word file and the PDF to edu20.org


Word 4–Report Activity 2

Manual Works Cited Page

  1. Open the file Activity 2 Works Cited from the website and save it to your Word 4 folder as:
    period last first Activity 2 Works Cited
  2. Create a header and footer in class format.
  3. Update document properties with your name as author, Title: Word 4 Activity 2, Subject: Period and Teacher.
  4. Select all the text in the document and change to double spacing.
  5. With the text still selected, alphabetize the sources:
  6. Choose the Sort button, it’s found on the Home ribbon, Paragraph group.
  7. Make sure “Sort by Paragraph” is selected and then click on Okay.
  8. Your sources should now be alphabetized.
  1. Click at the beginning of the document, in the front of the first line of text.
  2. Press enter and then arrow up to the blank line.
  3. Change the Alignment to Center.
  4. Type the title Works Cited
  1. Now select the sources and change the indent to Hanging by .5 inches:

  3. Click on the paragraph dialog box launcher on the Home ribbon.
  4. In the indentation section of the dialog box, choose Special and choose Hanging. Make sure the measurement is .5 inches.
  1. RE-save the document
  2. Save in a PDF format and upload to edu20.org.

Word 4 –File Management

  • Open your Word 4 folder. Change the view to details.
  • Paste in a blank Word document.
  • Setup a class header and footer on the page, save to the Word 4 folder as: Word 4 file management.
  • Print—the file management page. You must select a printer – Go to File – Print to do this.
  • Staple the file management printout to the back of your Word 4 grading sheet.
