Come and see us at one of our ten venues across Teesdale, where our friendly staff and volunteers serve an excellent meal in pleasant company.

If you would like to join us either as a member or a volunteer, or if you would just like to find out what we do, please contact us on 01833 695822.

What we do

The Association, through individual clubs, offer opportunities for older and/or isolated residents of Teesdale to meet regularly in their local communities for a chat and a freshly-prepared, three-course lunch, at a cost of just £4 per head.

In this way we hope to make it easier for such people living in the dale to socialise, to get together with old friends and to make new ones in a relaxed and friendly environment.

The clubs also provide a range of activities such as indoor curling, quizzes, race days, demonstrations, interesting talks or day trips.

We also have a network of information and support available to help our members, if required. In particular, our staff (through our community worker) act as contacts with local health, community, and social service organisations to ensure the best possible care for our members, endeavouring to help them retain their independence, maintain their self-esteem and combat isolation.

Each club has a leader to organise the various activities and events and a qualified cook to prepare the meals.

Volunteers are a mainstay of our organisation, helping by serving the food and drinks, clearing and washing up and assisting with transport and on trips. We're always on the look-out for extra pairs of hands and volunteering is widely seen as a very rewarding activity.

If you are interested in learning more about the Association, either as a potential member or volunteer, we would be delighted to hear from you. Our office details, telephone number and e-mail address are given overleaf.

What our members say about us:

“It is the highlight of my week and I would sadly miss it”

“I do enjoy my day at the club and it is the only day out I can rely on”

“The day club is a useful social asset which does involve you in the village”

“Only time I get out in the week”
