Job Title:IT Technician

Responsible to:Network Manager

Responsible for:To assist the Network Manager in the efficient operation of the Academy’s

ICT systems.

Salary scale:B3

Key Tasks:

Technical IT Support

  1. To provide hardware and software support for workstation PCs, laptops and Ipads.
  1. Repair and maintain hardware and software installations.
  1. Maintain and add new users to Microsoft Active Directory, Woodkirk VLE and theMIS Software.
  1. Maintain and add new users to the e-mail system.
  1. Monitor and respond to I.T. problems via the helpdesk, email and telephone.
  1. To provide technical support for all users.
  1. To assist with the installation of new and existing I.T equipment
  1. Help support users with the VOIP telephone system

Configuration and Installation

  1. To install and manage all computer software as required to deliver the use of ICT across school.
  1. Assist in the creation of a new systems to roll out software and hardware across school.

Network and Server Support

  1. To help manage and maintain the school network, including the installation of additional fibre and ethernet cabling and network switch maintenance.
  1. Perform basic diagnostic routines
  1. Help in the upgrade and maintenance of the physical and virtual server environment.

Maintenance

  1. Detect and diagnose PC, Printer and peripheral device faults.
  1. Ensure that stored data is accessible at all times by appropriate users.
  1. Support the implementation and installation of MIS Solutions.
  1. To ensure all work carried out meets Health and Safety standards and requirements.
  1. To install, configure and maintain anti-virus software across the network.

Administration

  1. Add all items to an online inventory system and keep this updated at all times. .
  1. Maintain the printer database, insuring that ink & toners are ordered and installed as and when required.
  1. To liaise with appropriate suppliers regarding quotations and purchasing hardware, software, licences and consumables.

The duties and responsibilities highlighted in this job specification are indicative and may vary over time. Woodkirk Academy is in the process of forming a Multi-Academy Trust in equal partnership with three local primary schools and is also approved as a sponsor academy. As such, this role may be required to work across a number of sites in the future.

Postholders are expected to undertake other duties and responsibilities relevant to the nature, level and scope of the post and the grade has been established on this basis. It will be subject to review through annual Performance Management.
